In SM21, the Syslog does not display any information.  Instead you see the message 'only_one_SysLog_file was skipped' at the top.


There is a problem or corruption in the system log file SLOGXX (XX is the system number).


  1. Stop the SAP system
  2. Delete the files SLOGXX and SLOGOXX in the directory /usr/sap/SID/INSTANCE/log
  3. Clear the shared memory (execute SAP OS command 'cleanipc XX remove' where XX is instance system number) and restart the system
  4. After the system restart a new SLOGXX file will be automatically created again by the kernel
