1. I'm trying to use the suggestion service in SAP Web IDE. Although I can select texts, my texts are not added to the properties file. What can I do?

By default, projects in SAP Web IDE expect the properties file to be called i18n.properties, which is in a folder called i18n:

If your properties file is located in the i18n folder, but has a different name, you must enter the name of your properties file as a value for the defaultI18NPropertyFile key in the .project.json file:

If your properties file is located in a folder that is not called i18n, you must enter the name of your folder as a value for the resourceModelName key in the .project.json file:

Note: It is not possible to create a folder hierarchy for the properties file - the properties file must be stored in a folder one level below your project. For example, MyProject/Myi18nFolder/my18n.properties is possible, but MyProject/MyFolders/Myi18nFolder/my18n.properties is not possible.

2. I created a new HTML5 application in SAP Web IDE and deployed it to SAP HANA Cloud Platform. When I try to translate the properties file with a translation project in SAP Translation Hub, I get an error message. What can I do?

There are a couple of things to try:

  • Check whether the name of your application and the path to the properties file are correct in your translation project.
  • Check whether you have committed and pushed your application to the SAP HANA Cloud Platform Git repository. Only after doing this is your application in the Git repository and can be accessed by SAP Translation Hub. To verify whether your app is in the Git repository, pull up your HTML5 application in SAP HANA Cloud Platform cockpit. In the left pane, choose Versioning.
If you see only the following entry, you need to commit your changes in SAP Web IDE:

After committing your application in SAP Web IDE, the following entry appears:

3. I've heard a lot about Git, but just what is it?

Check out Matt Harding's explanation at Using Git in HCP for your Fiori developments.

4. I've just tried to access SAP Translation Hub on the trial landscape, but I get a 403 error (not authorized) when I click Go to Service. What's wrong?

There are a couple of things to try:

  • Check whether your user ID is assigned to the User role in the SAP HANA Cloud Platform cockpit:
     Open the configuration settings
Check whether your user ID is assigned to the 'User' role
  • Check your local service provider and trusted identity provider settings
Ensure that 'Default' appears in all three fields
Check whether 'accounts.sap.com' is entered as a trusted identity provider

5. How do I grant translators from language service providers access to the SAP Translation Hub UI?

You assign the user IDs of the translators to the User role in the configuration settings of the SAP Translation Hub service on SAP Translation Hub. For more information, see User Authentication and Authorization.

6. I tried to translate a .properties file with the file upload option. After some time, I got a message about there being an error. Now what?

One possible cause is the combination of large file sizes and all target languages selected. If you selected all target languages and you need all target languages, try creating multiple translation projects to divide the number of target languages across several translation projects.

7. Due to the note about an increase in processing time if I switch on the machine translation option in translation projects, I didn't use it. Now that I have my translations, I'd like to see the quality index. I turned on the option and saved the project, but there still isn't a quality index for the SAP MT entries. How can I see the quality index?

SAP Translation Hub calculates the quality index for translations provided by SAP machine translation only when you first translate texts into a given language. If you activate the option after you translate the texts in a translation project, SAP Translation Hub does not calculate the quality index. To see the quality index, try one of the following options:

  • Deselect the current target languages in the translation project, select them again, and then translate the texts again. Note that any status values that you set will be lost when SAP Translation Hub translates the texts again.
  • Create a new translation project and activate the quality index option before you translate texts for a given language.

8. What are the different file types that can be translated in the Git Project Scenario ?

You can only translate and push PROPERTIES files.

9. I want to translate t wo or more ABAP Objects in the ABAP Project Scenario. Is this possible?

You can only translate one ABAP object per project in the ABAP Project scenario.

10. What is the m aximum number of characters that can be translated?

The character limit is 3000 per unit.

11. How can I get details about errors t hat occurred during project execution?

Open your project and navigate to the “Executions” tab. There you can download the logs.
