Data Mining Overview

To give a general idea of what can be achieved in Data Mining .

Data Mining should be the first step in designing a new Analysis Process. Where the data comes from and how it is structured needs to be determined at the beginning of each APD.

Data Mining

Data Mining is the task of analysing patterns in large volumes of data. This would be helpful in cases where data needs to be extracted and then can be transformed for further use in a different context. The process can be automated so that the modeled dataset as per data mining is then readily available when required for further processing.

A very basic example would be where a ‘material’ is produced and sold in many markets but, from data mining, it can be seen that it is ever only purchased in a subset of that market.  This information then would indicate that sales should be concentrated on that market.
