Purpose

This is the wiki page to all content concerning the topic ODP enabled extractors.

Overview

The following releases of ERP and PI_BASIS (or higher) are prerequisites to use ODP interface (e.g. ERP system as source system):

1521883 - ODP Data Replication API 1.0

To use of the ODP Data Replication API 1.0 productively, you must install at least one of the following releases of component PI_BASIS:

  • PI_BASIS 2006_1_700 Support Package 14 (SAPKIPYM14)
  • PI_BASIS 701 Support Package 9 (part of SAP NetWeaver 7.01 Support Package 9)
  • PI_BASIS 702 Support Package 8 (part of SAP NetWeaver 7.02 Support Package 8)
  • PI_BASIS 730 Support Package 3 (part of SAP NetWeaver 7.30 Support Package 3)
  • PI_BASIS 731 Support Package 1 (part of SAP NetWeaver 7.03 Support Package 1 and 7.31 Support Package 1)

1931427 - ODP Data Replication API 2.0

It's strongly recommended to import the latest Support Package

  • PI_BASIS 730 SP 14 (part of SAP NetWeaver 7.30 SP 14)
  • PI_BASIS 731 SP 16 (part of SAP NetWeaver 7.03 SP 16 and 7.31 SP 16)
  • PI_BASIS 740 SP 11 (part of SAP NetWeaver 7.40 SP 11)
  • SAP_BW 750 SP 0 (incl. former PI_BASIS packages)
  • DW4CORE 100 SP 0 (incl. former PI_BASIS packages)
  • DW4CORE 200 SP 0 (incl. former PI_BASIS packages)

Moreover, to make the ODP-functionality work well, it's strongly recommended you apply the latest (or latest – 1) support package based on Note 375631 - Which Support Package is recommended for BW-customers?

Enable Extractors for ODP framework

The SAP Note 2232584 describes which DataSources have been released for usage with ODP Data Replication API.

You need to implement the note, and run the report to get the data-source exposed to ODP.

For an Excel list of all extractors currently released for ODP, see the attachment to SAP Note 2232584  (ODP_Enabled_FullList_SAP_Note2235284.xls).

  • For Customer-specific Datasource:
Following the implementation of SAP Note 2350464 ("Creation of Generic DataSource in RSO2 - automatic release for ODP"), customer-defined extractors are automatically released for ODP. Alternatively, you can use the program RODPS_OS_EXPOSE to release customer-defined extractors directly in the relevant source system. For more information, see SAP Note 1585204.
  • For Export Datasource,
which is based on BW object, starting with 8* (previously called data mart in 3.x), it could not be released to ODP. (Even manually put it into ROOSATTR, it won't work). Please use ODP-BW context instead.
If you're using ODP API 2.0 (Note 1931427), BW is already available context for ODP.
If you're using ODP API 1.0 (Note 1521883), you need to enable ODP API 1.5. (Note 2403202 is the main note, but also notes 2404671 and 2404673 are required. )
This is exactly the way to extract data from BW(BW objects) to other systems via ODP. (If subscriber is BODS, you need to use Data Service 4.2 or above) Please refer to SAP KBA 2368268 as well.

  • For Generated DataSource (such as 9A* DataSources):
They are still supported in "BW on HANA" by using the ODP-SAPI context for the BW source system. They've entry 9$GENERIC_EXTRACTION in ROOSATTR.

  • For non-ODP-released standard Datasource,
which's not in either Note 2232584 or it's attachment, you may manually put it into ROOSATTR with EXPOSE = 'X'. It's on customer's own risk and enough testing is needed.
