SAP Support Guideline: BW-BEX-OT-DBIF

Why this page

Most problems reported in SAP incidents are not caused by an program error. They rather evolve from the complexity of the application and can often be solved by changing stettings or definitions. This page should help you to solve issues by your own or get faster a solution from the support, respectively. It addresses the following points:

  • Is the chosen component the right one?
  • Which background information is important, what can be checked?
  • List of common problems and FAQs.
  • List of the most important coding corrections for this component.
  • What does the SAP Support team need ?
Is this component the correct one ?

The DataBaseInterface (DBIF) is the layer (among others) responsible for translating the OLAP request for data retrieval from the different InfoProvider-types. Problems with queries, LISTCUBE, RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ and compression are typical examples.

Check List & Background Information
  • If an issue can be replicated (occurs) in transaction LISTCUBE, please see note 1591837  point [IV] and 2055174
  • If you have a problem with cube compression,  please read the wiki article Compression
  • If you have problems with the function RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ,  please see the wiki page function RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ
  • If you want to check the e-fact table of a BW cube (or the e-fact partition of a Flat Cube) for unallowed duplicate keys - SAP_FIND_EFACT_DUPLICATES report, please check Note 2864705
