SAP Support Guideline: BW-BEX-OT-OLAP-AUT

Why this page

Most problems reported in SAP incidents are not caused by an program error. They rather evolve from the complexity of the application and can often be solved by changing stettings or definitions. This page should help you to solve issues by your own or get faster a solution from the support, respectivelly. It addresses the following points:

  • Is the chosen component the right one?
  • Which background information is important, what can be checked?
  • List of common problems and FAQs.
  • List of the most important coding corrections for this component.
  • What does the SAP Support team need ?
Is this component the correct one ?
  • If either the message "not suffcient authorization" or "no authorization" (message class EYE) is displayed, BW-BEX-OT-OLAP-AUT is the correct component.
  • Wrong-data problems which are only reproducable using restricted users normally do NOT belong to BW-BEX-OT-OLAP-AUT. These problems are indirectly caused by authorizations: Different filters are applied in the BW-query for these restricted users (f.e. due to the usage of authorization-variables filled by authorizations). Applying the same filters in the query and executing this query with a SAP_ALL-user results in the same "wrong" data. In this case, the problem belongs to BW-BEX-OT-OLAP since OLAP-authorizations are NOT relevant.

  • The logon-data of a support-user. Please provide also the logon-data of a restricted testuser with which the authorization-error is reproducable.
