A Creating SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Document Viewer Template iViews

A.1) Pre-requisite

The NEW iView navigation and NEW iview template that comes with BI 4.0 is a portal archive file that needs to be uploaded to EP. The portal NEW iView navigation and NEW iview template delivers a BusinessObjects Enterprise focused iView that allows the content administrator to easily create new content derived from the BusinessObjects Enterprise system.

The default installation includes 2 NEW iViews :  SAP BusinessObjects Document List Template  and SAP BusinessObjects Document Viewer Template. Let's talk first about SAP BusinessObjects Document Viewer Template

iView

Description

SAP BusinessObjects Document Viewer Template

This is the simplest type of portal component you can create. This iView displays a single report selected by the portal administrator at the time they deploy it. Users will see the report when the iView portal page is displayed. They can navigate within the report normally, but cannot navigate to any other reports unless the default report contains linked reports. The portal page designer or administrator configures the content that is displayed in the iView.

To upload the iView template:

Already done in the section A.1 in the article : BI4 - How to create SAP BusinessObjects Document List template into EP 7.0.x  if you want to do it.

A.2) Create a System Landscape folder

Already done in the section A.2 in the article : BI4 - How to create SAP BusinessObjects Document List template into EP 7.0.x  if you want to do it.

A. 3) Create a System Landscape (and alias)

Already done in the section A.3 in the article : BI4 - How to create SAP BusinessObjects Document List template into EP 7.0.x  if you want to do it.

A.4) Check the SSO of your System Landscape

Already done in the section A.4 in the article : BI4 - How to create SAP BusinessObjects Document List template into EP 7.0.x  if you want to do it.

Now that you have done all the configuration steps, you are ready to create an iView using the BOE iView template.

A.5) Creating SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Document Viewer Template Iview

1. In the SAP Enterprise Portal navigate to Content Administration > Portal Content .
2. Open the folder Portal Content .
3. Navigate to the folder you created when creating the System Landscape (Section 4) in our case: Demo_SDN_System_Landscape .
4. Right click the folder and select New > iView. In the New iView template wizard select iView template and click Next .

5. In Template Selection, select the SAP BusinessObjects Document Viewer Template option and click Next .

6.  Specify an iView Name and iView id and click Next. The iView name is the display name that appears in the Portal Catalog. The iView ID is a unique identifier registered in the Portal Content Directory; this ID appears within the portal administrator environment.

7. Select the SAP system alias (this is the alias specified when creating the System Landscape (section 5) - in our case : BI4_System_Alias_SDN and select Document ID (CUID)

9. You will access the BI4.0 repository and you will be able to pick up the document you want to link and his CUID.

10. Click on Next and you will access the Summary Wizard.

11.At this time, your Document Viewer iview is configured and you can preview it.

A.6) Modify the Applications Parameters

Your Document Viewer iview will display your report, however if you want, you can add "OpenDocument" parameters to display for example the last instance.

1. Open your Document iView template.

2. Select SAP BusinessObjects in the Property Category

3. Add your parameters in the Applications Parameters section

B  Creating Roles in SAP EP Portal and assigned them to Portal Users

This step hasn't changed, so please follow this link:

http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Creating+Roles+in+SAP+EP+Portal+and+assigned+them+to+Portal+Users

C Add this iView to your Role

Already done in the section C in the article : BI4 - How to create SAP BusinessObjects Document List template into EP 7.0.x  if you want to do it.

D Log into your Netweaver portal

As the SSO is enabled. you are not prompted to enter into BI4.0, you enter with your Enterprise Portal Netweaver Credentials.

You will open only the report you defined in your Document Viewer Template.

  1. Hi,

In EP 7.3 i do not get the steps 3 to 5. Hence after completing the creation of iView, i have to manually input the BO properties. However, after doing so, i get the document could not be found error. Has any one faced this or found a solution to this in EP 7.3?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Kavitha

  2. In step 4 of the wizard, I see BOBJ connect and the folder structure display but I get this message:

"Configuration error. Please contact your system administrator."

I have SSO working successfully for the Document List Viewer iView, but having this error with the document viewer iView.  Any suggestions where this config error might be coming from and how to resolve it?  It looks to be a message from within the BOBJ server.

    (Running EP 7.1, BOBJ 4.0)

  3. Hello,

same error in step 4, when I go ahead and change to a dashboard without the entry "sInstance=Last", it´works, but not with a Webi document.

    Delete: sInstance=Last, this helps.

  4. We would like to enter a BW_ID instead of a CUID. Is that possible?
