Chapter F) Creating Roles, and assigned them to Portal User


1) Creating portal roles

 A portal role can organize and display the content that is being displayed to the end user.
To create a new portal role
1. Log onto the SAP Enterprise Portal.
2. Navigate to the Content Administration tab.
3. Navigate to Portal Content tab.
4. Right-click the folder .
5. Select New > Role

 
6. Complete the following fields:

Role Name

a display name that appears in the Portal Content Catalog.

Role ID

Enter a unique identifier for the role here. The role ID may include alphanumeric characters, underscores (_),, percent signs (%), tilde (~) and parentheses. It may not include other special characters or spaces.

7. Click Next .
8. Click Finish.

 
9. Ensure the option Open the object for editing is selected
10. Click OK

2) Add content to portal roles

1. Right-click to the Iview you want to add to this role. (The Role need to be open in order to add the Iview)

2. Select Add iView to Role > Delta Link .

 

3. On your Role, Select Navigation in the Property Category list box of the Property Editor.
4. Set the Entry Point property to Yes.

 
5. Click Save  and Close .

You have now created a role which contains the portal content. As a next step, you need to assign the role to the relevant port users.
 

3) Assign a portal role to a portal user

By assigning a user to a portal role, the user is receiving access to the content assigned to the role and to rights assigned to the role.
To assign t he portal role to a portal user
1. Log onto the SAP Enterprise Portal.
2. Navigate to User Administration tab.
3. Search for the portal user foir whom to add Role you just created. (in your case the user is called :SAP_BOE_User)
4. Click the Logon ID .
5. Click the Assigned Roles tab.
6. Click Modify .

 
7. Search for the portal role in the left screen.
8. Select the available role by clicking the table grid (left-hand side). (in our case the role is called : BusinessObjects Role)
9. Click Add . The role is moved to right hand side.
10. Click Save .
11. Refresh the browser page.

After doing the configuration steps and the setting the portal role is an entry point, the created portal role should now appear in the top-level navigation.
 

Without any Role

Once the Role is added.
