Overview

While saving the recently modified profile in RZ10, an error message appears:

Cannot generate backup file (  )
Message no. PF132

You want to know how to solve this issue.

Background of error message

Owner of profile is not <sid>adm or <sid>adm has no write authorization to the file.

Example:

Incorrect:

probud2:~ # ls -al /usr/sap/BCS/SYS/profile/BCS_DVEBMGS02_probud2*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5913 May 31 14:31 /usr/sap/BCS/SYS/profile/BCS_DVEBMGS02_probud2
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5784 May 31 14:31 /usr/sap/BCS/SYS/profile/BCS_DVEBMGS02_probud2.BAK

Resolution

Change the owner of affected profile files to <sid>adm and group to sapsys by chown <sid>adm:sapsys <profile> (command must be run by the current owner - in this example with root).

Example:

probud2:~ # chown bcsadm:sapsys  /usr/sap/BCS/SYS/profile/*

Correct:

probud2:~ # ls -al /usr/sap/BCS/SYS/profile/BCS_DVEBMGS02_probud2*
-rw-r--r-- 1 bcsadm sapsys 5913 May 31 14:31 /usr/sap/BCS/SYS/profile/BCS_DVEBMGS02_probud2
-rw-r--r-- 1 bcsadm sapsys 784 May 31 14:31 /usr/sap/BCS/SYS/profile/BCS_DVEBMGS02_probud2.BAK
