To help with troubleshooting

Overview

In the operating system log following error appears: No more processes. You want to know what to do to eliminate the issue.

Reason

Operating system limit (number of processes or number of files - descriptors) for <sid>adm user is low. 'ulimit -a' or 'limit' command (*proc* or *desc* pattern) displays the low value.

Resolution

1. Stop SAP system.

2. Set the limit number of processes according to SAP recommendations. See the SAP notes in Reference tab.

Examples:

    • AIX: maxuproc, nofiles
    • HP-UX: maxuprc, nfile
    • Linux: nproc, nofile
    • Solaris: project.max-lwps, process.max-file-descriptor

3. Start SAP system
