BPC on HANA - Implementation Guidelines

Overview 

This page will provide some basic guidelines on some of the strategies in order to implement BPC on HANA

Introduction 

Many customers are looking to implement SAP BPC on HANA, but due to the timeline's needed to do a database migration from the existing BW database to a HANA database. They are looking at alternative strategies in order to implement BPC on HANA. 

Installation Requirements

This section details the prerequisites for BPC on HANA.

SAP HANA Appliance
--Required Software: SAP HANA Database 1.0 SPS3 ( Revision 24 or higher )
SAP NetWeaver BW 7.3 Powered by SAP HANA
--SAP NetWeaver 7.3 SP06 or above (For DB Migration, SAP Note 1657994 is recommended)
SAP BPC 10.0NW SP06
--CPMBPC 800 SP06
--HANABPC 800 SP00 (See SAP Note 1676242)

Migrate the current environments

You will need to migrate the current environments for the BPC HANA component before the ENABLE_ACCELERATOR  parameter may be set.
You will need to run the program „BPC_HANA_MIGRATE_FROM_10‟ (simply enter * for all Environments ).
Please Note: You only have to run this once before setting the ENABLE_ACCELERATOR parameter in SPRO. All new BPC Models should automatically be Enabled after this.

Migration Approaches 

Upgrade from existing BPC 10 NW System
1.Upgrade SAP BW 7.30 to SP06 or higher (For SP06 SAP Note 1657994 is recommended)
2.Upgrade CPMBPC 10.0 to SP06 or higher
3.Install HANABPC 10.0 SP00 (See SAP Note 1676242)
4.Migrate DB to HANA DB (See SAP Note 1600929)
5.Run program „BPC_HANA_MIGRATE_FROM_10‟ to migrate the BPC Environments to in-memory Environment
6.Activate Accelerator in SPRO

NOTE: System will NOT allow you to enable the HANA Accelerator for BPC until you run the migration program

Fresh Installation + UJBR ( Recommended Approach )
1.Install a fresh SAP NetWeaver BW 7.3 Powered by SAP HANA
2.Install BPC 10NW ( CPMBPC 800 SP06 + HANABPC 800 SP00 ) (See SAP Note 1676242)
3.Backup/Export the BPC Environment from the old system
4.Restore/Import the BPC Environment into the new BPC HANA system
5.Run program „BPC_HANA_MIGRATE_FROM_10‟ to migrate the BPC Environments to in-memory Environment
6.Activate Accelerator in SPRO

NOTE: System will NOT allow you to enable the HANA Accelerator for BPC until you run the migration program
