Purpose

Sometimes you create an AET field and you want to translate the label to other language. This WIKI page is intended to describe how to translate the label of an AET field. This wiki page uses sales order as an example.

Overview

Using AET you can create a Z field with manual data element or without manual data element. This document describes the steps about how to translate the label of AET fields with manual data element or without manual data element.

Generate a Z-field with manual data element using AET

Logon with business role SALESPRO, go to sales order search screen, search and open a sales order, click button "Show Configurable Areas", click on Sales Order Details area, then in the coming up View Configuration popup, click button "Create Field"

Select part ORDERADM_H, click button OK

Enter field label, and click on Enable Export Mode button

Assign a data element, for example ZAET_TEXT, click Back button
Click button "Save and Generate" to generate the Z-field
After the field is generated successfully, open it, switch to change mode, then expand the Translation part, the field is greyed out so that you cann’t translate it to German in the AET tool.

Translate the assigned data element using SE11

Run transaction code SE11, open the data type ZAET_TEXT, click menu "Goto -> Translation", select the target language, for example DE and translate it. Then when you log on the CRM WebUI, the translated label will be displayed.

Generate the Z-field without manual data element via AET

On the sales order screen, click button "Show Configurable Areas", click on Sales Order Details area, then in the coming up View Configuration popup, click button "Create Field", select part ORDERADM_H, click button OK, then enter field label, select field type and enter length

Translate the label in the AET tool

Expand the Translation part, and maintain the translation
