Professional Edition

The professional edition is the foundation of groupware integration and allows to synchronize accounts, contacts, appointments, emails and personal tasks between MS Outlook and SAP CRM. With SP03 the synchronization with IBM Notes is also supported. The component is part of the SAP CRM license.

For the migration from SP02 to SP03 a SAP note is available that contains important information in the attached migration guide: 2118319.

Enterprise Edition

With the enterprise edition additional features are introduced like lead and opportunity synchronization, mutiple text types, support for recurring appointments or more flexible enhancement possibilities. The enterprise edition is not part of the SAP CRM license; additional licenses are needed, the material number of enterprise edition is 7017842. Please contact your account executive for further information.

An IBM Notes version of enterprise edition is not planned.

Version Overview

SAP Desktop Connection is available in different versions - so called Service Packs.

Since the software consists of more than one asset, every asset has its own version numbering. In order to get an overview of the various components and its versions, you can use the table below:

invisibleStudio

invisibleStudio is a configuration utility for customizing OutlookBridge Extensibility customization packages for OutlookBridge-based products such as Desktop Connection for SAP CRM. The following table gives an overview of the service packs (SPs), patch levels (PL), and their compatibility to Desktop Connection versions. The component CRMGWSTU is used for professional edition, CRMGWSTUEE for enterprise edition of Desktop Connection for SAP CRM.

Release Information Note

With every new version the Release Information Note is updated. The RIN contains important hints and a list of notes that have to be implemented before Desktop Connection can be used.

Download the necessary assets

All relevant assets that are needed to get the solution up and running (CRM Add-On, Outlook and Notes Add-In, default Customization Package) can be downloaded from the SAP Service Marketplace. The solutions for Microsoft Outlook and IBM Notes differ in the Client Add-In and the Customization Package. The CRM Add-On is the same component for both groupware clients.

You either can use the hyperlinks in the overview table above or you can follow the guide below (for the correct versions see table above again):

1) Go to https://support.sap.com/swdc and log on

2) Click on link "Access downloads" in section "Installations & Upgrades" 

3) Click on "By Alphabetical Index (A-Z)" on tab "INSTALLATIONS & UPGRADES" or "SUPPORT PACKAGES & PATCHES":

4) Select character "C" and click on "SAP CRM DESKTOP PE" or "SAP CRM DESKTOP EE":

 5) Click on "CRM DESKTOP CONNECTION PE 2.0" or "CRM DESKTOP CONNECTION EE 1.0":

6) Click on "Entry by Component":

7) To download the CRM Add-On and the Customization Package, click on "CRM DESKTOP PE SERVER" / "CRM DESKTOP PE SERVER NW 7.4"

There are two list entries as on Netweaver releases < 7.4, a separate Gateway Component has to be installed, too. The links for the Gateway Add-On can also be found in "CRM DESKTOP PE SERVER".

8) Open the tree branches to find Customization Packages and Add-Ons:

9) Select a software component e.g. CRMGWCUS 200. Find the correct version (see table above) and put it to your download basket:

10) After downloading the CRM Add-On and the Customization Package, you can jump back using the breadcrump menu at the top of the screen:

11) In the "Entry by Component" screen (see step 6) select "CRM DESKTOP PE CLIENT". Click on "CRMGWCON 200" for the MS Outlook add-in or "CRMLNCON 200" for the IBM Notes add-in, and "CRMGWSTU 200" for InvisibleStudio:

12) Select the Desktop Connection client you need (table above) and download it.

For Outlook a 32 bit and a 64 bit version of the add-in is available. The version can be selected by choosing the corresponding entry in the listbox on top of the table. The version needed depends on the Microsoft Outlook version you are using (32 bit or 64 bit) and NOT on the operating system.
For IBM Notes only a 32 bit add-in version is available.
