You wish to filter the Universal Worklist to show only certain required item types. This can be due to performance reasons in order reduce the amount of time and resources required, reduce transport loads and to essentially make the system run in a more efficient manner.
There are a number of different ways to achieve this depending on whether you are using the webflow connector, delta pull or if you wish to restrict attachments only. I will go through each method in detail.
The first way can be used only for delta pull and to exclude tasks. Filters can be configured in transaction SWNCONFIG. This method can be implemented by applying the steps detailed in note 1908061 - 'WF Notifications, UWL delta pull: filters affecting runtime'
The next method is quite complicated and can only be implemented on item types using WebFlowConnector. To implement this you must:
a) Define a xml configuration with the required item types that you need retrieved from the WebFlowConnector
b) Next define a view in the xml that has only the required task types supported
c) Change the sap_uwl_viewname on the iView
d) Upload the xml file with high priority to the system
The full steps are documented in kba 1806540 - 'How to restrict the UWL by only retrieving required item types using WebFlowConnector'
The third way is possible for attachments only. It involves changing the visualization parameter to ‘Object not represented’ for an item type in transaction SWFVISU
For later releases from 7.30 onwards it is possible to simply filter by supported and excluded item types on the Webflow connector only. The properties "Supported Item Types" and "Excluded Item Types" are available on Webflow connectors.
These properties are available only when a new WebFlowConnector is being created or an existing WebflowConnector is being edited. They are not available with any other connector. For more information please check kba 2213715 - 'How to restrict item types coming into the UWL'
