Sometimes while working with the default framework page it gets corrupted. A common scenario is a portal with only the Top Level Navigation in display and the detailed navigation or the PCD cannot be seen. This describes how to fix this up.
Log into the portal with administrator privelage. Copy paste the below link in the address bar with your proper server host name and server port.

http://<your host server>:<host port>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!!2fevery_user!2fgeneral!

You will be able to see the PCD and all other contents. Now if you navigate you will find there are two default framework pages one in pcd:portal_content/
(i.e pcd:Portal Content/content provided by SAP/End User content/Standard Portal Users) and a delta link copy of it in pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/frameworkpage
(i.e pcd:Portal Content/Portal Users/Standard Portal Users).

See if any changes have been made in the page content. If required delete the delta link copy and make it again.

Also check in System Adminsitration > Portal Display >desktop and display rules >pcd:Portal Content/content provided by SAP/End User content/Standard Portal Users & System Adminsitration > Portal Display >desktop and display rules>pcd:Portal Content/Portal Users/Standard Portal Users
that the Default Portal Desktop has chosen as default.
The Master Rule Collection in System Adminsitration >Portal Display >desktop and display rules>pcd:Portal Content/Portal Administrators/super_admin should also have reference to default desktop in its Rule collection. The default rule is
IF User = *
THEN Portal Desktop = pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/defaultDesktop

  1. Are you sure the link you are providing here will allow access to the pcd with admin privileges? you should look it up as I have found that the portal will return an exception.

  2. Ahh.. sorry, missed the bit where you pointed out that one should be logged on as Administrator.

  3. It helped me lot ... as i mistakenly unchecked the Top-Level Navigation in Default Framework Page and was not able to see the TLN.

    This is very helpful.
