Purpose

Provide general guidance for users of Russian functionality, specify main steps that are recommended by SAP to use last version of the functionality.

1.General information  

Russian authorities introduce legal changes quite regularly and some legal changes require adjustments in the SAP software. Such adjustments can be delivered to customers via SAP notes or SP. Besides notes with legal changes SAP releases notes with bug fixing.
Therefore it is critical to have up-to-date version of functionality in the system and apply all relevant notes.

Some new customizing may be introduced as part of legal change or functionality adjustments. Such information can be specified in the SAP Note text or in the attached document.

It is recommended that some specialist in the company perform actions on regular basis to keep awareness of upcoming legal changes, new notes release and perform planning for new notes implementation and new customizing.

2. Announcement of Legal Change

Information regarding upcoming legal changes is available in the Announcement of legal change application on SAP ONE Support Launchpad.

With this application users can search for legal changes by countries or application components, relevant to their systems, plan corresponding activities based on available information, like planned release date, implementation complexity and manual activities.

To get information related to Russia please select country Russia. Also, additional selection can be set up for component, planned dates, publication date, keywords. The filter criteria can be saved.

Please note that data for legal change item are added upon availability. For example, component is added when analysis of the Legal change is complete, and area is defined. Planned delivery date is added when internal planning is verified and this date if finalized. The note number is added when solution is released.

3. Notes

3.1. Identifying of relevant notes

The official recommendation from development team is to apply all notes for functionality that are valid for system SP level.
Relevant notes can be found via note search with restriction by SP.

3.2. Notes implementation

It is critical to apply an SAP Note correctly. A SAP Note can have dependencies on other notes, can have manual pre-implementation or post implementation activity.

Here are some common errors with note implementation:
a) Manual steps are not performed
b) Manual steps are done in the wrong sequence
c) Pre-requisite note is not applied or applied incorrectly
d) Errors during correction implementation are ignored and correction that is incompletely implemented is set to status “completely implemented” manually
e) Errors during object activation are ignored and object is activated anyway
f) Errors with note implementation are ignored and note is set to status “Completely implemented” manually

Improper note implementation can lead to dumps and errors in functionality work, errors in further note implementation, code inconsistency, etc.

It is recommended that notes are applied by a specialist with knowledge in this area. Note status should be set to “Completely implemented” only if there are no errors and all steps and activities are performed.
In case of error with the note it is necessary to stop dependent notes implementation and search for solution using official SAP resources such as KBA, WIKI, Documentation. If solution is not found – please address this question to SAP Support.

3.3.  Additional information in SAP Note

SAP Note can have additional information regarding the solution itself, clarification of the solution implementation activity, additional explanation for some options, new customizing, etc.
Such information is usually present in the “Solution” section. Additional documentation can be attached to the note.
It is recommended to check note information to be aware of relevant information and plan additional steps like customizing adjustments if necessary.

3.4.  Legal change notes

Legal change notes are released to fit new legal requirements.
Information regarding planning date for legal change note release is available in the Announcement of legal change application on SAP ONE Support Launchpad.  
Please plan related activities beforehand.

In most cases legal change notes have several prerequisites including notes that are already released. Even if a legal change note is not released yet, you can check available notes for functionality and make sure that they are applied in the system. With this approach it will be necessary to apply only new note for legal change and avoid unexpected workload for implementation of prerequisites that were available before legal change release. 

4. Customizing

SAP delivers some customizing via BC-set. BC-sets are delivered in SAP notes. Please note that BC-set should be activated in each system.
You can apply BC-sets with SAP-delivered customizing and adjust it afterwords accordingly. 

The customizing that is not SAP-delivered should be performed by customer. Information regarding customizing is available in SAP Help Documentation, SAP Notes with functionality adjustment where new customizing is introduced.

Also information regarding new customizing can be available  in the note where this new option is delivered.
Please note that there can be gap between new functionality release with a note and SAP Help Documentation. In such cases it is recommended to pay attention to additional information in the note.

5. Testing

If company has some specific business process it is recommended to perform testing for this process after changing of customizing or notes implementation for related functionality.
Please plan testing activity beforehand. Consider completing the testing before periods in your company when any interfere can become critical: legal reporting preparation, period closure, etc. 

6. Where I can get information

SAP One Support Launchpad is the central place for all information access. Search shows relevant information through all Knowledge Base that includes SAP notes, KBAs, SAP Documentation, SAP WIKI.
On the step of the incident creation recommendations are provided via service “Incident solution matching”.
SAP ONE Support launchpad requires authorizations.

6.3 Knowledge Base Articles or KBA

KBA contains information for functionality and topic. This can be additional explanation for functionality work and setting, FAQ.
KBA for Russian functionality can be found via search on the SAP One Support Launchpad, google search. Usually the title of KBA for Russian functionality starts with “SAP RU-FI”.

6.4 Incident solution matching

Incident Solution Matching is the service, that is available on the SAP One Support Launchpad. This service is based on Artificial Intelligence and machine learning technologies that helps you get relevant answers to technical questions faster. Recommendations are provided based on the description of the question.

6.5 Localization forum for Russia

Forum for Russian localization is a special resource for localization topic discussion. Here you can discuss localization solution with other customers and SAP specialists, add comments and suggestions, share experience.
Also materials from webinars held by Russian Product Management team are published on the forum.

8.1 Automated Note search tool

Automated Note Search Tool (ANST) is the solution which could help you in such a situation where you need a quick solution.
More than just a SAP Note Search Tool, ANST allows you analyze deeper into the problem by taking you to the object and code level.

8.2 Performance assistance Notes and KBA search

The Performance Assistant helps to quickly search for SAP Notes and SAP Knowledge Base Articles for ABAP messages based on the relevant message number.

8.3 Support log Assistant

The support log assistant is a tool that allows users to scan their own support related files for known issues and recommendations. 
This tool provides the user with a self-service method of analyzing, reviewing and packaging up their log, trace and configuration related files. The log assistant leverages a database of known issues, conditions and recommendations that is maintained by SAP Product Support on a regular basis.
