The HCM Master Data ES bundle makes employee- and job-related HR data available to departments outside HR, without the need to access or replicate such data in a separate software system or to rely on verbal, e-mail, or paper-based communications. There are many uses for HR data. It can be used by administrators to review personnel qualifications for upcoming critical projects in the enterprise, as well as aid analysis of budgets through confirmation of which employees are in what cost distribution centers. This ES bundle provides cost savings and improved efficiency to enterprises by reducing the amount of time to find and read personnel data, by reducing errors in the updating of employee files, and providing all authorized personnel and applications with up-to-date personnel data.

Use Case 1: Team Management - Access Employee Information

A manager needs to access information regarding members of his staff, such as contract data, organizational assignment, or absence days. Thanks to Duet's integration of master data into Outlook, the manager can view this information directly in his email system. The manager displays the particular organizational center, finds all the employees in this organizational center, and then clicks on an employee, which invokes Read Employee Basic Data, Read Employee Name, and Read Employee Photo to populate the contact information in Outlook for example. Access to this information is carefully controlled so that the manager has access only to information about himself and his team. He can display names of other colleagues, but cannot view details about their information that the colleagues themselves can see (and modify).

Use Case 2: Workforce Planning in a Retail Enterprise

Certain employees in a retail store must have documented qualifications to perform the jobs to which they are assigned---a cashier needs to be bonded, and someone working in a particular department, such as an in-store butcher shop or a pharmacy, must have appropriate skills training. If an employee is on sick leave or vacation, a manager can invoke Find Employee by Elements to determine who in the organization is best suited to substitute for the missing worker. The same service can be used in larger enterprises, in circumstances where a person qualified to perform a special kind of task is required in a certain department.

Use Case 3: Retail Operations and Task Management Integration

Reflexis has integrated its suite of Retail Execution Management solutions with SAP HCM to provide an end-to-end solution for human capital, workforce, and retail operations management. The Reflexis solution eliminates data redundancy by directly accessing information stored in HCM master data. Employees can seamlessly log into Reflexis from within the SAP NetWeaver portal using enterprise services to automatically map users to the correct store and department. Reflexis can invoke the Find Administrative and Organisational Data by Employee enterprise service operation to obtain employee telephone numbers and email addresses. Other services consumed by Reflexis include Read Employee Basic Data to get an employee name and Find Employee Communication Data by Employee to obtain information such as position code and organizational data. Integration with HCM and the ability to directly access data related to thousands of employees results in faster implementation. The Reflexis architecture now has proven integration with enterprise services and this can be expanded to other modules.
