  Motivation

Open Item Analytics Dashboard is used for analyzing invoices pending for payments. The analysis is made using various constraints put across multiple pages of the dashboard and if the payments are not made beyond a particular threshold, legal warnings are given to the customer.

BW on HANA stands for the approach that is used for developing Analytics Scenario dashboards.In this approach, data present in SAP HANA analytical views are used and one level up there is SAP NetWeaver BW which consumes the data from these analytical views. In SAP NetWeaver BW, we construct BW Info Objects and Virtual Info Providers for managing the data retrieval. The Virtual Info providers are used since there is no latency issues reported and are closely linked to the HANA artifacts. Some of the functionalities of BW like Time Dependent Hierarchies, BW Filters, BW Conditions are used for precise data management. BEx query is constructed based on these Virtual Info providers and they are used as data sources for most of the BI dashboard clients. The BI dashboard also offers to connect to Floor Plan Manager Application for detailed analysis of data. The technologies can be connected more technically from the architecture diagram given below.

For this Open Item Analytics Scenario, there has been two dashboards developed one using BEx Web Application Designer and the other using SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio.

 

  BEx Web Application Designer

BEx Web Application Designer is a desktop application for creating Web Applications with BI-specific content. Using the BEx Web Application Designer, you can create an HTML page containing BI-specific content such as tables, charts, or maps and additional controls to interact with the data shown. BEx Web Application Designer allows building complex applications as well as Web-based dashboards and to integrate them as SAP Enterprise Portal iViews.
The command wizard and pattern wizard are integral parts of the Web Application Designer. Using the command wizard, you can generate commands from the Web Design API and include them in your Web template. Using the pattern wizard, you can configure BI patterns and tailor them to meet your needs.

  SAP BusinessObjects Design Studio
