UDF
UI command
An action that can be triggered on the user interface and is implemented in Java as a single class that encapsulates multiple tasks.
The Java class defines the representation of the command as a label on the screen and also the logic and screen flow required to execute the action. Variants of UI commands exist to distinguish between different operations, for example, mass operations that apply to many resources or individual operations that apply to a single resource.
Unicode
Unicode is an industry standard designed to allow text and symbols from all of the wiring systems of the world to be consistently represented and manipulated by computers.
unification
The concept of integrating information sources within the Enterprise Portal. Unification, enabled by the Unification Server and Drag and Relate technology, supports access to information from various sources, which may include legacy databases and additional applications that are external to the Enterprise Portal. Unification also enables the correlation of different projects based on these information sources.
Unification Server
A development environment that enables an enterprise to integrate the resources of its information systems and provide unified access and Drag and Relate navigation from the mySAP Enterprise Portal to structured data, including databases, legacy systems, and other enterprise applications.
Unified Modeling Language
Unified Modeling Language (UML) is the OMG-recognized (object management group) standard language for the semantic analysis of objects and for the design of object- oriented models with the help of graphic tools. The UML standard is integrated in XMI.
You can find the current UML specifications on the OMG homepage.
unifier
An application that enables the integration of enterprise systems into a portal by means of Drag and Relate. The unifier features an abstraction layer of the target application business logic and/or object model as well as a repository of metadata it has extracted from the target application database.
Unifier for BW
An application running on top of the Unification Server, enabling access to SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) from SAP Enterprise Portal.
unifier for Oracle Applications
A Unification Server application enabling enterprises to integrate Oracle Applications with other information sources.
Unifier for SAP Applications
This unifier features an abstraction layer of the target application business logic and/or object model, as well as a repository of metadata extracted from the target application.
Unifier Management Console
A single user interface from which you can develop, customize, and administer your project. The Unifier Management Console integrates all the utilities of the Unification Server. This Management Console is built on top of the Microsoft Management Console (MMC).
Universal Business Language (UBL)
UBL is the product of an international effort to define a royalty-free library of standard electronic XML business documents such as purchase orders and invoices. UBL is designed to plug directly into existing business, legal, auditing, and records management practices, eliminating the re-keying of data in existing fax- and paper-based supply chains, and providing an entry point into electronic commerce for small and medium-sized businesses.
Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI)
UDDI is the Web services standard for publication and discovery of Web services and their providers. Services can be categorized by means of well-known taxonomies for various purposes, for example, the interfaces they implement, the access protocols and policies they require, or the application components that offer them.
Universal Unique Identifier (UUID)
An identifier that is immutable and unique across time and space. UUIDs are used in the content distribution service to identify syndicators and subscribers.
Universal Worklist (UWL)
The universal worklist enables SAP portal users to manage their work by bringing together tasks from different systems, including workflows, alerts, Knowledge Management (KM) notifications, and Collaboration tasks.
Update form
An ASP template, made available by the Unification Server, enabling the user to update a record in the database upon which a unifier project is based.
URL Access for Content
A service that transfers the content of external resources into a content management repository. HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP protocols are used for access to external resources.
URL Capture
A utility that captures the URLs of pages of the target Web site.
URL Editor

user activity tracing
Sequential recording of all activities in SAP Enterprise Portal for selected users for a defined period of time.
User-Defined Function (UDF)
UDF is a function provided by the user of a program or environment, in a context where the usual assumption is that functions are built into the program or environment. In SQL databases, a user-defined function provides a mechanism for extending the functionality of the database server by adding a function that can be evaluated in SQL statements.
user mapping
Enables Single Sign-On between systems in which users do not necessarily have the same user credentials. In the case of the Enterprise Portal, the user's portal user ID and password is mapped to his or her user ID and password in a component system.
User Mapping tool
A Unification Server tool used to prevent the necessity of additional logons whenever a Database Unifier project user wishes to access an external application, such a database system. The tool is used to map any number of users to a user with access permission to the required application.
User Preferences Editor
A Unification Server tool used to grant users and groups access to Database Unifier project components or tools.
user-specific Collaboration Room role
Once the user has created a Collaboration Room or been invited to a Collaboration Room, the system replaces the initial Collaboration Room role for this user with a user-specific Collaboration Room role. You are not allowed to manually change user-specific Collaboration Room roles.
