Transaction DB59

Transaction DB59 allows to integrate any SAP MaxDB databases (including SAP liveCache and SAP MaxDB databases which are not used for an SAP system) into one SAP system. After integrating a database (which means storing the connect information in tables DBCON and DBCONUSR) you can use transactions DB50N and LC10 to administer and monitor this database.
Only if the database type is set correctly transaction DB59 can call the correct Assistant (transaction DB50N or LC10). In some cases the database integration is done automatically (e.g. in case of a SCM installation) - then you still need to set the database type manually.
Transaction DB59 also provides a connection test. This is used to check if the entered connect information is correct and if a connection to the database instance can be established.
This transaction is available as of SAP Basis Release 4.6C SP 44, 4.6D SP 33, 6.10 SP 32, 6.20 SP 21, 6.40 (and newer releases) SP 00.

liveCache Assistant (Transaction LC10)

liveCache Assistant (transaction LC10) is the central tool to administrate and monitor the SAP liveCache.
Detail information can be found in liveCache Assistant.
The permission concept for the usage of LC10 is described in note 452745.
If you have a problem with LC10, please check note 415376.
If you have problems with starting or stopping liveCache in batch, please check note 821200.

Where transaction LC10 gets the information from, which is displayed in menu DBA History, is described DB50 LC10 - detailed information.

Database Assistant (Transaction DB50/DB50N)

Database Assistant (transaction DB50) is the central tool to administrate and monitor a SAP MaxDB. Transaction DB50 is available as of SAP Basis release 4.6C and replaces transaction ST04. As of SAP release 7.00 transaction DB50 is automatically called when you enter transaction code ST04 - in older releases the old version of ST04 still exists.
Detail information can be found in Database Assistant.
Transaction DB50N is an extended version of transaction DB50 which allows to administer and monitor any SAP MaxDB database - not only the system's own database. This transaction enables you to use just one SAP system as a central monitoring system to monitor all SAP MaxDB databases of your system landscape. Transaction DB50N is never called directly - if you choose Assistant in transaction DB59 automatically DB50N is opened if it is not the system's own database.

Where transaction DB50 gets the information from, which is displayed in menu DBA History, is described DB50 LC10 - detailed information.

Transactions DB12/DB13/DB13C

Transaction DB12 allows to view logs of backup, check data and update statistics operations. Furthermore you get information about the log settings and about log and data area filling level. Detail information can be found in DBA Action Logs.

It is also possible to schedule these tasks weekly. As of SAP Basis 7.00 it is also possible to schedule the tasks daily or hourly.
When a scheduled task has finished you can view the logs of this action in this transaction. Detail information can be found in DBA Planning Calendar.

Transaction DB13C is the central DBA planning calendar. You can integrate several database instances into this transaction. Afterwards you can schedule database tasks for these databases. First you have to choose a database - then transaction DB13 is opened for this system. Prerequisite for the usage of DB13C is a SAP Basis release >= 6.10. Further information about this transaction can be found in note 431508.

Detailed information about the jobs scheduled by DBA planning calendar (transaction DB13) and where this transaction gets the displayed information from can be found DB13 - detailed information.
Detailed information about where DBA action logs (transaction DB12) gets the displayed information from can be found on page DB12 - detailed information.
