Introduction of NWBC for HTML

NWBC for HTML is a browser-based shell for casual use scenarios. Within this environment, all SAP GUI transactions will be rendered using the SAP GUI for HTML rendering engine.

By reading this page, you get basic impression on NWBC for HTML. 

Overview

NWBC for HTML is a browser-based shell for casual use scenarios. Within this environment, all SAP GUI transactions will be rendered using the SAP GUI for HTML rendering engine. NWBC for HTML as a light version is only supported for ABAP systems, using established roles from PFCG.

How NWBC for HTML looks like? 

As with NWBC for Desktop, both shell and content area are available, but without quick navigation, menu entries, quick launch, and so on.

NWBC for HTML Runtime

Different from NWBC for desktop, the "patch" which contains the correction of NWBC for HTML is delivered by runtime. Each runtime stands for a SAP note and can be imported to ABAP system by transaction: SNOTE. The patch collection note is note 1353538 .

How to start NWBC for HTML from a ABAP system?

Method 1: From transaction /nSICF, find service NWBC, right click on it and choose "Test Service". NWBC service is located in "/default_host/sap/bc/" in SICF.  The URL of NWBC basically looks like:

http://<hostname.domain:<port>/sap/bc/nwbc?sap-client=<CLIENT_NUMBER>


 
Method 2: Type trsanction /nNWBC in command field and press ENTER!
 

Role maintanence in trsancation PFCG

The menu of NWBC for HTML is mapping from the role creation in PFCG. The first 4 tabs are relevant to NWBC.

Tab 1: Description

A description of a role is mandatory. In this case a new role ZTEST_TOMOR is created for NWBC.

 


Tab 2: Menu. In this tab, you define the layout of NWBC for HTML welcome page (Easy Access) by adding folder, sub folder, transaction or report. At least one subfolder under Role Menu is required to display NWBC Menu structure.
 

 
The menu structure on browser is like below. There are 2 layers in this example -- WD_test1 -> WDY_APPLICATION. Always the very bottom menu is executed by default in canvas area. More subfolders can be created for deeper Navigation Tree.
 

Tab 3 Authorization. A profile has to been assigned to the user.

Tab 4 Users. You can add users in this tab so that the users can have this menu structure. User Comparison is necessary.
