Installation Guide for SAP ECTR Patches

  1. Download the desired Patch file from the SAP Marketplace and start the Installation.

  2. If the extraction was successful proceed you can start the installation process.

  3. Now you have to select the parts to be installed (default: all selected).
(info) Please notice the Information on the upper right side.
  4. The Installer is now updating the data.

  5. When the installation was successful navigate to your installation directory.
Indentify all template-customize folders where the new configuration files are stored.
    e.g.:
    1. \\SAP\ECTR\template-customize
    2. \\SAP\ECTR\addons\plantMaintenance\template-customize
    3. \\SAP\ECTR\applications\wrd\template-customize
(info)Many addon or application directories have a template-customize folder.

  6. Now you have to compare the data from all template-customize folders with the data in the referring customize folder. We suggest to use WinMerge as used in this guide.

  7. This is an example overview over the changed data inside the files:

  8. For the not identical text files you have to check if the new content has to be transferred into the files in the customize folder.
(warning) Attention: If you just replace the files you'll loose your implemented customization.

  9. Alternative 1
    1. What should be transferred from left to right:
      1. New comment
      2. New preferences variables
      3. Especially changes in the DType Templates

    2. What should not be transferred
      1. Your own customized settings (don't overwrite them!)

  10. Alternative 2
    1. Compare the files, copy your customized settings into the template files and replace the config files ones with the enhanced template files.

  11. Alternative 3
    1. Backup your customizing somewhere outside of ECTR installation directory
    2. Start installer with parameter "/RemoveOldDirs" which resets all your customizing to defaults.
    3. Compare your backup files with installed defaults and take over necessary changes into installation.
