Introduction

This article describes the function of the landscape-provider. The SAP UI landscape provider enables to read the SAP system landscape from the SAP GUI configuration and to provide it to SAP Engineering Control Center.

Overview

The SAP UI landscape provider uses the SAP UI landscape XML configuration of the SAP GUI. This allows connections that have been configured in the SAP GUI for Windows, for example, for logging on with SAP Engineering Control Center.

Installation / Configuration

Since version 5.1.11.0, the landscape-provider is automatically installed in the installation process of SAP Engineering Control Center.

For the configuration of the SAP UI Landscape XML, refer to the SAP Configuration Manual for SAP UI Landscape: SAP UI Landscape Configuration Guide

Additional configurations of SAP Engineering Control Center, which activate the SAP UI landscape provider, are not necessary.

Functional Description

Following the successful installation of SAP Engineering Control Center and after configuring the SAP UI Landscape XML, the connections from the SAP UI Landscape XML will be available in the logon dialog of SAP Engineering Control Center. The top of the drop-down list shows the connections from the SAP Engineering Control Center configuration (saplogon.txt), followed by the connections from the SAP UI Landscape configuration in alphabetical order.

Instructions for use with SAP ECTR

Since version 5.1.13.1, it has been possible to define that not all connections from the SAP GUI are displayed in the SAP ECTR logon dialog. Instead, only a folder named "ECTR" is considered in the SAP GUI connection tree. If such a folder exists, only the connections below this folder are displayed in the SAP ECTR logon dialog. In this way, the user is shown only those SAP systems, to which he can connect with SAP ECTR. If such a folder does not exist, all connections from SAP GUI continue to be displayed.
