Organizing system Landscapes

For administration purposes, you can organize your systems in a system landscape is displayed in the navigator of the administration console of 

SAP HANA studio

Systems in the system landscape an labeled with their system ID (<SID>) and the description (if you entered one).

If you expand a system node in the navigator the following sub nodes are displayed:

  • Host on which the system is installed and the instance number
  • Default catalog, containing public synonyms, schemas with column views (into cubes),

Functions, indexes procedures, sequences, captivates synonyms, tables and views.

Adding systems to system landscape

Before doing administrator tasks we need to add HANA systems

Procedure for reading  HANA system

In navigator pane ——- Right click ———-“Select add system”

Provide specified details

Host Name (name of the Host, which the system is installed)

Instance number (provide instance number for HANA system)

Description & provide login Language for


provide usr name & password.

Connection to URL (optional):-

Provide JDBC connection for HANA

Creating folder structures

We can create folders to organize HANA systems for we can assign multiple HANA system to the folde4r

Procedure for to create folder structure


  • Create New Folder in the context mean of els navigator
  • Enter a folder name
  • In the navigator drop & drag your systems to the new folder
  • Repeat this procedure until your have built up your system procedure

Exporting system Landscapes

This methodology mainly used for project Deployment to transport entire project from

Development   Untitled      testing    Untitled      Production


Go to file UntitledSelect Export   Untitled  will get export Dialogue box under         sap “HANA STUDIO FOLDER”    Untitled  Select lands cape Untitled   select “HANA – system”     Select pass where you to export  Untitled   FINISH.

Note: We will get file in XML format

Importing landscape

This methodology mainly used for project deployment, To transport the enter project from

Development   Untitled      Testing    Untitled     production


Go to file Untitled  Select Import   Untitled   We will get import Dialogue box  after SAP “HANA STUDIIO FOLDER”     Untitled    Select landscape   Untitled Select HANA Systems   Untitled  Select path where you to Import   Untitled  FINISH


So we will get only import XML files

Starting / Stopping Systems


Starting system

In the navigator  ,  right click on the system to be started and choose start …….. in the context menu

Optional:          Specify a time out

Start time out:-             Defines how long to wait for an instance to start. If the end of the time out period is reached the remaining instance not started .

Stop Time out:-            It defines how long to wait for an instance to stop if the end of the timeout period is used and the instance has still not stopped the remaining instance are shutdown anyway.

  1. in the lic

Enter name and password of the system administrator that you have defined when creating the system

EX:- System ID (<SID>) = SAP

Name of the system Administrator = supadm

Procedure to Stopping system

In the navigator, right click on the system to be stopped and choose stop ……. In the context menu

Select how you want to stop the system:

Forces all components to stop immediately

Waits for all components to stop you cam specify a timeout after which a had shutdown it to be trig cud

Stop wait time out (Sec)

If the timeout expires the operation will conform stopping the remaining in stances.

Enter user name and password of the system administrator

Configuring system

Changing parameter values:

The properties of the system will be defined in the parameters of the configuration files

Along configuration files can be displayed and changed in the administrator detour


  • Choose the urged system and open the administration editor by choosing in the navigator tool bar
  • Open the configurations tab page on the contain the configuration information for the system and displayed
  • Expand the element configuration file
  • Choose change …… in the each context menu of the relevant row and enter the new value for the information for the system and displayed
  • Displayed expend the relevant configurations file


Parameters for which you cannot   a minus sigma in those columns in which no override is possible

(B) Resetting parameter values

We can reset parameter  value to the system wide default value


  • In the context menu of the parameter, choose Delete …
  • Select the levels on which you want to reset the parameter

Settings the Global allocation limit parameter

The global – allocation – limit is used to limit the amount of memory which can be used by the database the value is the maximum allocation limit in MBA missing entry or a value ‘O’ (zero) results in the system

Using the default settings limit


  • Open the administrator editor by choosing in the navigator toolbar
  • Open the configurations (tab)
  • Open global.ini parameter group
  • Open the memory manage selection
  • Choose change in the content menu for global – allocation –n limit is displayed
  • Change configurations value dialog box for the entire
  • Change configurations value dialog box for the entire system and for an individual HOST.  If it is set for system, the value is used for each host.

Example:- if you have 5 host: and set the limit to 5GB, the data base coo to use up to 5GB on each host (25 GB in total) you can additionally set the value for the specific host for chat host the specific valued is used and the system – value is used for all other hosts

Enter the values in the new value fields (for the system and Host, if require) and choose sets

Displaying Information about the volume configurations:-

Data within a system is contained in volumes. Currently those is one volume per instance / index server


  • Open the administration Editor by choosing in the navigator toolbar
  • Open the volumes tab
  • Information about volumes (host, path, size, tree space) is displayed

Periodic activities of ADMIN


System monitoring:-It provides an overview of the system landscape

Double – clicking any cell in this table opens the comes pending tab of the administrator Editor of the specific database


To start system monitoring choose the icon will get below options:

(a)  System ID:-     Identifier agree to system when if was installed

(b) Operational state:-   It shows the state

  • Yellow
  • Red &
  • Green
  1. Alerts :- It displays as a low, medium & high priority
  2. Data disk (GB):- The disk space used is shown as the shaded

Part of the bar view . The available disk space is shown as the clean part of the bar view. This is order coded, red, yellow or green according to the thresholds set about ‘DATA files’

  1. Trace Disk (GB):- This is about trace files
  2. Physical memory (GB):- It shows about physical memory data
  3. Virtual memory (GB):- The combination of physical & virtual memory
  4. CPU (%): usage of CPU
  5. Host name: Name of the serene
  6. Instance number: Instance number of host
  7. Distribute: It display information whether system distributers on single / multiple   server

(B) Monitoring the System State

Open administrator editor, choose in the tool bar of the navigator

System Name which is defined during system installation

The comment in parentheses () is defined when the system is added to the navigator

The host name of the system host

the system instance number.

The time when the tab you are viewing was last refreshed

The manual refresh button which enables you to manually refresh the tab you are viewing

The start / pause button which & used for the automatic refresh function

The internal between automatic refresh (in sees). You can change this by clicking on the down arrow and selecting a different number of seconds

The copy to clipboard button enables you to copy the details of the tab you are viewing to the clipboard and then to paste this to another program for example Note pad

Clean messages in the header enables you to clean any messages displayed in the header

On starting the database the following services our started:

Index server

Name server


SAP starts

Statistic server

Configuring the E-Mail function

To do this, you can click on the configure check settings button on the alerts tab


  • Open the administration editor by choosing in the navigator toolbar
  • Opens the alerts tab
  • choose configure check settings
  • the configure check setting dialog box is displayed the default tab is configure E-Mail functions

Complete the following information

Sender E-mail AddressThis must be valid E-mail address
SMTP serverThis must be a valid SMTP server
SMTP PortDefault is port 25

Choose Modify recipients:

The modify recipients dialog box is displayed the dialog box enables you to add users to receive all alerts

Enter an E-Mail address and choose add.

Choose ok when you have finished creating your recipient list

Choose Recipients configuration for specific cheeks.

This opens a new port of the dialog box which enables you to add E-Mail recipients for specific check there is a list of check for which you com add recipients. These recipients will only receiver E-mail alerts which the specific cheeks produce alerts

Select one or more cheeks that you want to raise e-Mail alerts on

Choose Add recipients at the button of the list of cheeks.

The modify recipient dialog box is displayed. This dialog box enables you to add users to receive specific alerts

Choose OK to save the configurations
