The purpose of this page is to explain certain minor behaviors related to the Development Goals section from Performance Forms. For complete information on the Goals Section from Performance Forms, please refer to the Performance Management v12 Acceleration Guide - Goals Section.
Goals section is one of the main working sections in a form. This section is used to define all the objectives or goals that are to be evaluated during a review event. Development Goals focus on learning, which is key to individual and organizational performance. Achieving Development Goals leads to increased personal job satisfaction, which increases workplace morale. This wiki page describes certain minor behaviors related to the Development Goals section from Performance Forms that are not covered by the Implementation and Administration guide.
It is possible to include a Competencies field in the Development Goals, which allows users to select competencies that they want to work on in each Development Goal. For more information on this field, refer to the Career Development Planning Administration Guide - Linking Development Goals to Competencies page.
When this field is included in the Development Plan template and configured to appear in the Development Goals section of the Performance Form (plan-layout configuration), the system will display those competencies as a numbered list in the Performance Form. The numbers are generated incrementally, starting from 1 (one) and don't actually have any special meaning related to the competencies. This is the expected behavior and cannot be changed.
It is also possible to restrict the users to only be able to select one competency for each Development Goal, and this restriction would also apply to the Performance Forms. However, the one competency would still appear as a numbered list of one item: 1. Competency Name. For information on this configuration, also refer to the Career Development Planning Administration Guide - Linking Development Goals to Competencies page.
