Purpose

The purpose of this page is to explain what fields can be configured as custom filters for the Matrix Grid Reports, how to configure them and how to identify incorrect configuration.

Overview

By default, the Matrix Grid Reports will have the fields "department", "division" and "location" available as filter options. You can also add other fields as custom filters to allow users more granular filter options in the report.

Supported Custom Filters

The following fields can be configured to be used as filters for the Matrix Grid Reports:

  • Department;
  • Division;
  • Location;
  • Title;
  • City;
  • State;
  • Custom fields: from custom01 to custom15.

Note (i): Customizable fields can now be associated to a picklist starting b2005. Before it may cause inconsistent behaviors within the system (i.e. if it is used as a matrix filter, the picklist option ID's will be displayed instead of the labels).

Note (ii): Any standard element that is not included in the above list cannot be used as a filter for the Matrix Grid Report and will result in errors if you try to configure it.

Note (iii): Any standard element that is not included in the above list cannot be used as a filter for the Matrix Grid Report and will result in errors if you try to configure it.

How to configure a custom filter?

The above standard elements can be defined as a custom field by changing their definition in the Succession Data Model. You need to set the "matrix-filter" attribute to "true". For example, to make the standard element "custom01" a filter for the Matrix Grid Reports:

<standard-element id="custom01" max-length="255" required="false" matrix-filter="true">
<label>Customizable Field 1</label>
</standard-element>

As a customer, you do not have access to provisioning (back end) to apply this change. To make this change, engage your Implementation Partner or contact Cloud Product Support.

Unsupported fields

If a non-supported field is set as filter in Matrix Grid filter, it will display "No data" in the v12 Matrix Grid Reports or it will display as a text field in v11 Matrix Grid Reports. See the example below on how a non-supported field displays in v12 Matrix Grid Report:
