This section provides information about the upgrade of SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008 (R2), or SQL Server 2012 system to SQL Server 2014 in an existing non-high-availability system.
You must follow the instructions of the Upgrade to and Installation of SQL Server 2014 in an SAP Environment

2 Check all Microsoft SQL Server 2014 upgrade SAP relevant notes
1. Perform the following steps once SQL Server 2014 upgrade is finished.
a. When you have finished the upgrade, check that the TCP/IP protocol in the SQL Server Configuration Manager is enabled.
Search for SQL Server 2014 Configuration Manager to enable TCP/IP.
b. Restart SQL Server.
c. If you upgraded to the SQL Server 2014 RTM build, or if you want to install an additional Service Pack and Cumulative Update, install them.

2. Run the SAP tools for MS SQL Server.
The SAP tools for MS SQL Server perform the post-upgrade steps that are required for SAP ABAP products running on SQL Server 2014.

3. Start the SAP system.
4. Connect with a database administrator logon to the SQL Server 2014 Management Studio.
5. Open a new query window and execute the following commands:
use <SID> – where <SID> is your SAP database
It takes some time to replace the old SQL Server index statistics with new SQL Server 2014 statistics. You can execute this while the SAP system is online.
6. Change the page verify option with the following commands:
alter database <SID> SET PAGE_VERIFY CHECKSUM;
7.Set the configuration for the SQL Server Agent.
a. Start the SQL Server Management Studio.
b. Right-click SQL Server Agent and choose Properties.
c. Choose History.
d. Set the value for column Maximum job history log size (in rows) to 6000 (minimum).
e. Set the value for column Maximum job history rows per job to 500 (minimum).
f. Check the column Remove agent history and set a value for this column.
g. To save the settings, choose OK.
8. Maintain the DB13 jobs.
After SQL Server 2014 upgrade, it is necessary to maintain the consistency of DB13 job information in SAP Tables and MSDB system tables.

9. Check if there is a red or yellow traffic light is shown in SQL Server Setup Check.

10. Check the SQL Server version by using SAP system.
