Answers to Functional Questions
What are the settings required for a resource used in Block Planning?
For using a resource in Block Planning it needs to be classified. First create a suitable Class (/SAPAPO/MC01KDEF2) and Characteristic (/SAPAPO/MC01MDEF2). Next in the model-independent Resource master (/SAPAPO/RES01) assign appropriate class in Block Planning tab. Next click on Create Blocks and select Block Basis Definition to enter the sequence of blocks you needon the resource. Once the pattern is setup click on Create Reference Cycle to actually define the blocks for usage. This is where the duration (calendar days) of each block is defined. This completes creation of Reference Cycle. Now to actually create the blocks on the resource goto the Resource, Block Planning tab, click on Create Blocks and select Intervals tab. If there are existing blocks you may need to select the blocks and delete them. Else click on Insert Reference Cycle (the one created previously) and provide a start date/time for generation of blocks contained in the reference cycle. Save the data. This creates absolute block intervals for the Resource being Block planned.
Note: To display blocks in Planning Board select from Menupath Extras > Blocks > Display.
