SAP BI interfaces SAP BI interfaces are, for several customers, a common way to manage and access data of SAP Solution Manager. SAP BI offers well-documented interfaces to access the data. So it would be an interesting option to make LMDB data also available directly via BI-interfaces. This option is being discussed ... |

Evaluating extracted information
The table above lists ways to extract data from LMDB. There are different use-cases and every user has his preferences. So far, there is no single application that can deliver all information at one place - allowing free selection and combination of all properties and entities and inside and outside of the LMDB... for the time being, the following tools are used to combine landscape information:
- MS Excel: It still is the standard tool for many customers, offering the known flexibility.
- SAP Lumira offer ways to further evaluate exported (LMDB landscape) information that was extracted to MS Excel.
Example: See Luis' SCN article Compare #solman product version data with PAM to check end of maintenance, which describes how to use Lumira to join extracted product information from PAM and RSMSY_REPORTING01.
(Of course, instead of from PAM, you can also extract the EOM dates from the LMDB CIM Model browser, as described above.) - www.saplumira.com (incl. free download)
- Lumira in the SCN
- You Tube videos
- Lumira in SAP Help Portal
- SAP BI OnDemand (https://bi.ondemand.com/): no longer supported
Please let us know with which tools YOU are extracting & evaluating landscape information!
Finding Kernel Information for Technical Systems
Landscape Reporting in transaction LMDB offers an increasing number of reports to extract landscape information.
Since SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP10, you can also extract information on Kernels of managed systems. (Before, this was only possible in a more complicated way, using configuration reporting or change reporting in Change Management or Root Cause Analysis.)
Prerequisite: Make sure that the data suppliers delivering kernel information are active on the managed systems: SAP Note 1717846, 1700074, 1869701, 1842956.
1717846 - sapstartsrv: SLD-Registrierung
- In your SAP Solution Manager system, start transaction LMDB.
Choose Landscape Reporting. - Kernels are registered as software components. So choose the report SAP: Technical Systems - Installed Software Components.
Select a technical system type and choose Execute. (Note that Kernel information is only relevant for ABAP and Java.) - In the result list, filter for the Kernels (enter *KRNL*) in the Software Component Version According to PPMS column.
Make sure that you have added the columns for the version and patch level under Settings. - Choose Export to save the list to MS Excel.
Prerequisite for Up-to-Date Kernel Information
On the managed systems, the data suppliers that deliver Kernel information must be working and send data to the SLD and SAP Solution Manager, regularly.
You can check this for several systems in LMDB Landscape reporting with the report SAP: Technical Systems – Data Supplier Completeness:
The status should be green: The expected data suppliers for Kernels are found and send data every day.
For each individual technical system, you can check the data supplier status in detail in the LMDB.
On the overview screen of the editor for technical systems, choose the More... link:
A popup shows you which data suppliers were found or missing and if they delivered data less than 2 days ago.
In this example, the Kernel data supplier is missing:
As referenced in the help text, see SAP Note 1842956 and 1869701 for more information.
