Purpose

This content was created to explain the various tasks performed by a company Super Administrator.

Overview

The role of a company super administrator encompasses all administration tools in the SAP support portal such as user, system & Installation administration. SAP creates a company’s first S-User ID and assigns this user the highest level of authorization. As such this ID is the company’s first super administrator and has all authorizations for the portal. For BusinessObjects customers, maximum authorization is assigned to the primary contacts.

The main tasks that the super administrator is responsible for are:

1) User data maintenance:

The company super administrator can maintain the user data and authorizations of users in the SAP Support Portal at the link www.service.sap.com/user-admin

From here the super administrator can create, delete & reactivate user ID’s. They can do so by following the steps in SAP notes 1271482 (How to add or delete S-User IDs) and 1811859 (How to reactivate a S-User ID).

While the super administrator can also amend a user ID’s authorizations or create additional super administrators by following the steps in SAP notes 1511008 (How to assign authorizations for another S-User ID) and 1614304 (How a super administrator can create another Super Administrator within a company).

Links to video tutorials on all of these tasks are available in SAP note 1831457 (Video tutorials for topics related to XX-SER-SAPSMP-USR component).

A user data maintenance learning map is also available in the SAP support portal that explains all of these processes in greater detail.

Potential user maintenance errors:

If you come across an error when trying to delete an S-user ID it could be because the ID has been assigned special roles by SAP. In order to proceed with the deletion you will need to open up a customer message under the component XX-SER-SAPSMP-USR to get the special roles reassigned. SAP note 1500217 (User cannot be deleted from Service Marketplace due to special roles) provides more details on this process.

2) System data maintenance:

The company super administrator can maintain the system data in the SAP Support Portal at the link www.service.sap.com/system-data

From here the super administrator can view and maintain system data & clean up inactive systems.

3) Installation data maintenance:

The company super administrator can maintain the installation data in the SAP Support Portal at the link www.service.sap.com/inst-data

From here the super administrator can perform tasks such as requesting new installations or deleting existing ones.

Links to video tutorials on all of the system & Installation data maintenance tasks are available in SAP note 1831381 (Video tutorials for topics related to XX-SER-SAPSMP-SYS component). While a user system & data maintenance learning map is also available in the SAP support portal. This explains all of these processes in greater detail.

More detailed information for super administrators including frequently asked questions is available in the support portal at the “Information for Administrators” link on the User data maintenance page www.service.sap.com/user-admin.
