Purpose

The purpose of this wiki is to show the readers how to determine the roles that are necessary of the Set-up User for the "Enter System Parameter" step in Managed Systems Configuration.

How to Enable "Quick Help"

This section shows the reader how to find out more information about the Set-up User of the "Enter System Parameter" step by enabling the "Quick Help".

  1. In the "Enter System Parameter" UI, if you do a right click, you will be able to enable the "Quick Help".
  2. Afterwards, you will see green underlined on the word where you can find help hovering the mouse over.
  3. In the help displayed, you can find more information about the needed authorization for the user in the Security Guide for Solution Manager.

How to access the "Security Guide"

This section shows the reader how to access the Security Guide to determine the needed authorization(s) for the Set-up User of the "Enter System Parameter" step.

  1. Access the SAP Service Marketplace and click on "SAP Support Portal".
  2. In the SAP Support Portal, click on the "Release & Upgrade Info" tab.
  3. Click on "Installation & Upgrade Guides".
  4. On the left of the screen, click and expand the "SAP Components" tab.
  5. Click and expand the "SAP Solution Manager" tab.
  6. Select and click on the tab based on the version of your Solution Manager (For example, in my case, I am using Solution Manager 7.1 SP05.Therefore, I click on the "Release 7.1" tab.).
  7. Navigate to the "Operations" section and click on the plus sign to expand it.
  8. Select the relevant Security Guide based on the Release and SP Level of your Solution Manager (For example, in my case, I am using Solution Manager 7.1 SP05. Therefore, I select "Security Guide SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP05" as my relevant guide.).

How to utilize the "Security Guide" 

This section shows you how to use the information in the Quick Help and the Security Guide to identify the needed authorization for the Set-up User.

  1. Open the Security Guide that is relevant for the Release and SP Level of your Solution Manager.
  2. Based on the hint given from the Quick Help, navigate to the relevant section in the Security Guide to obtain more information (For example, in my case, the hint that I obtained from the Quick Help is "MANAGED.ABAP.ADMIN". Therefore, I browse to page 178 section 13.10.2 of the Security Guide to obtain more information about this user.).  
  3. From the Security guide, you can find out more information about the purpose and the role assignment of the user.
