If you observe some metrics in the JMX sub tree missing or consistently reporting 0 as value although you expect other values check this procedure. It varies depending on your Netweaver release.

Example metric:

Recent tickets showing missing JMX metric CurrentHttpSessions

Solution for J2EE 7.30 and higher: SAP note 2067705.

Visual Administrator (Netweaver <=7.0x)

Check in Visual Administrator server -> monitoring service if the appropriate counters are active (reporting useful) data here. The tree locations to check are:

  • Kernel -> Application Threads Pool
  • Kernel -> System Threads Pool
  • Services -> Web Container
  • Services -> Connector Service -> Stand Alone -> javax.sql.DataSource -> SAPSIDDB
    If any counter is not active here, click Configuration -> Edit, React on Resource Failure = ignore, Save. After this, the counter should become active.

Netweaver Administrator (NWA, Netweaver >=7.1)

For Netweaver CE systems, since VA is no longer existing, please go to NWA > Availability and Performance Management > Resource Monitoring >  Java System Reports or History Reports

Choose correct instance and server nodes, tab "Reports", choose "Monitor Browser" in the combo box. Then we can navigate to the monitor like in Netweaver 7.0 and check the counters.

If any counter is not active here, click Configuration --> Edit, React on Resource Failure = ignore, set Enable to true, then save. After this, the counter should become active.

For Netweaver CE 7.3x systems: Availablity and Performance -> Resource Monitoring -> History Reports -> Monitor Browser
