Monitoring Use-Case

SAP Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) is an application used to optimize the sales and operations planning process by balancing supply and demand. S&OP is powered by SAP HANA for accessing information in real time.

SAP S&OP offers a OData API which Solution Manager can use to extract exceptions into Solution Manager Exception Management. From there they can be consumed by Interface and Connection Monitoring.

The data to be analyzed by S&OP comes from the on-premise systems and is integrated with S&OP via SAP HANA Cloud Integration for Data Services. You can monitor the iFlows in SAP HANA Cloud Integration for Data Services via the Cloud (SAP HCI DS) template.

You have to create a Cloud Services and set up Exception Management before you can set up Interface and Connection Monitoring for SAP Business ByD. Please follow the below documentation on how to create cloud services and set up exception management:

The statistics are based on single exceptions which are retrieved via an API from S&OP into central Exception Management in Solution Manager.

Configuration

Make sure you added your SAP S&OP external service to the scenario in the scenario configuration. Your S&OP service has to be either the sender or the target system of your interface channel to make sure the measuring point can be determined correctly.

For this channel type you don't have to maintain any parameters on interface level.

However on the "Metric Configuration" tab you have to maintain metric parameters after selecting the metric you want to monitor.

The following parameters have to be maintained:

  • Message text: Error Message

  • Message ID: S&OP Message ID

  • User: The user causing the error

The thresholds and data collection frequency is maintained in the next step of the setup wizards, in step "Activation".
