The Technical Administration Work Center within SAP Solution Manager provides tools and capabilities to support the IT operations management teams in the efficient planning, implementation, execution, and reporting of the day-to-day operational activities.
The Technical Administration Work Center offers applications that help you to manage system availability. document , schedule, execute and report on regualr administrative tasks and to automatically notify recipients about IT related events.
Capabilities of the Technical Administration Work Center include:
- Guided Procedure Management
Allows to document day-to-day administrative activities as guided procedures and to automate certain activities. Provides an overview over executed administrative activities.
- IT Task Management
Allows to plan the execution of day-to-day administrative activities in advance as tasks. Provides acentral task inbox to execute all planned tasks
- IT Calendar & Work Mode Management
Provides a calendar-based overview of the planned events (Work Modes, IT events, change requests, release and project schedules for selected Technical Systems).
Allows to schedule and maintain Work Modes (e.g. Planned Down Times, Peak Business Hours) for managed systems and databases.
- Service Availability Management
Provides availability reporting for business-critical systems, databases or services. It calculates the availability based on outages detected by system monitoring or advanced monitoring and compares it to defined availability Service Level Agreements.
- Notification Management
Provides central maintenance of recipients and recipient lists to allow efficient notification about new alerts or planned system downtimes. Allows to define e mail and SMS templates for Work Mode and IT Event Notifications.
