Java Workflow yields "System does not support these tasks" message when managing Substitution rules
This topic relates to the substitution profiles available in backend via transaction SBWP (Business WorkPlace) -> Settings->Workflow settings -> Maintain Substitute which are however not supported by the JavaWorkflow (JWF). JWF supports only General Substitution profiles for substitution rules. That is why, when a substitution with a special profile, such as "Disciplinary", "Strictly Confidential" or "Functional" is created, upon attempt to activate the rule for the JWF, the status of the substitution for the AdHocSystem is set to "Failed" and the indicative error message "System does not support these task" is displayed.
JWF, "Disciplinary", "Strictly Confidential" or "Functional", substitution rules
Therefore, to allow the activation of the substitution rule for JWF as well, create substitution rules that support "General" Substitution profiles.
Note: It is recommended that substitution definitions be created and maintained only via "Manage Substitution Rules" in Universal Worklist to ensure consistency in Universal Worklist substitutions.
