Supported IBM Cloud Bare Metal and Virtual Instance Server Types

With IBM Cloud Classic, SAP supports its applications on the bare metal server types that are listed in SAP Note 2414097.

Additionally, these SAP applications are also supported with VMware ESXi. For details on VMware versions and configuration requirements, see SAP Note 2414097. Be aware that in this case the ESXi host is customer-managed which means that customers must take care of the proper maintenance and operations so that the server and the whole software stack complies to SAP requirements and remains supported.

With IBM Cloud VPC, SAP supports its applications on the virtual instance server types that are listed in SAP Note 2927211.

  1. An update would be needed, with the IBM Cloud Power VS capability  (OSS  2923984  &  2855850) . Embedding a support for SAP / Oracle / IBM Cloud (wink)

  2. Note, that IBM Power Systems Virtual Server is a separate offering, apart from IBM Cloud Infrastructure that is described above. Thus the table “Supported Databases” is still valid.

See here more details about the IBM Power Systems Virtual Server offering → https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS6QJ7/about-power-virtual-server.html.
