Over the last couple of years, developers have been searching for more flexibility and productivity to develop web based applications.
Technologies such as Ruby/Rails, Groovy/Grails (G2) support these new requirements, and have generated a significant amount of interest within the development community (look at the number books and articles published recently!).

G2 (Groovy / Grails) has become a popular framework for developing web applications on top of the Java VM, and can be leveraged using SAP's Composition on Grails (CoG) Community Project: SAP CoG extends the Grails web application framework written in Groovy to add support for Web Dynpro, BAPIs/RFCs, and Enterprise Web Services.

In this session, we will review the basics of Groovy and the Grails framework so we are able to develop a composite application in an agile manner using SAP's Composition on Grails (CoG), and also discuss the potential value of using these new technologies!

In case we can turn this session into a hands on at the last minute (no promise), please bring your laptop with:

  • Your favorite browser installed
  • Java SE JDK 5 (or later) installed
  • Groovy & Grails ZIP packages downloaded (installation not required)
  • SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.1, or Eclipse 3.3.x (or later) installed
  • Groovy Eclipse Plugin installed
  • SAP CoG ZIP package downloaded

Come and join us to discover new and innovative approaches for developing applications using SAP's CoG.
Looking forward to meeting everyone in Las Vegas, and maybe in Berlin!
