In this session we will discuss how metadata based access can help you streamline your Netweaver portal authorization provisioning processes and architecture.
Using experiences from various real life implementations on systems build for a user population ranging in size of 20k to more then 100k users and content ranging from around 60 pages to thousands of pages we can see how this often overlooked feature of Netweaver portal helped customers realize their requirements.
We take a look at how PCD filtering has been extended to secure not only structural access (worksets, pages, iViews) but also content based access within a page. This includes components to allow page dependent setup of content via link lists from KMC and securing WPC content using meta tags.
We can discuss how PCD components are tagged to enable filtering as well as KMC and WPC content.
We can then dive deeper and take a look at the various components that enable this and how to prevent performance issues and streamline support.
I can also show you tools that have been created for streamlined validation of portal content as well as providing proxy capabilities.
Proxy functionality is provided using a custom WDJ application that is controlled via SAP backend configuration tables. We can take a look at this application to see how drop down fields are dynamically created using backend configuration to control which user attributes different user groups can change and the values displayed in the drop down fields. Using backend configuration it is also possible to create any number and level of dependent drop down fields and it can also be used to perform dynamic role assignment on the Netweaver portal.
We mainly use proxy functionality to allow users to change Netweaver portal content (including navigation) by changing certain attributes but it is also used by support personnel to quickly change the Netweaver portal to exactly what a certain user sees.
