Sessions

Your session contribution is at the core of SAP Inside Track. So if you think about hosting a session, please let me know by submitting your session idea to the wiki page or emailing to Thorsten Franz or Tobias Trapp. It doesn't have to be a perfectly prepared, timed-to-the-minute classroom-style PowerPoint presentation. A more open, improvisatory, collaborative, discussion-centric style is perfectly okay for this kind of community event. We can work with flip-charts, whiteboards, and live demos. You can also use free dance to convey your ideas to an audience of your peers!

Automate Web Application Testing with Selenium for ABAP

The SAP testing tool eCATT currently does only support SAP GUI and WebDynpro Java UI's. The Open Source Tool Selenium can be used to test also WebDynpro ABAP and SAP CRM Web UI. Selenium allows to record a test using the Selenium IDE Add-On for Firefox. This recording can then be converted to an ABAP Unit Test. The WebAS ABAP then calls Selenium RC which can run on your local desktop machine controlling the Browser for testing.

Agenda:

  • Introduction into Selenium IDE
  • Creating ABAP Unit Test in the Selenium IDE
  • Execute the ABAP Unit Test from the WebAS ABAP Details of the ABAP Selenium RC Client implementation

OpenID Server that uses a WebAS Java or ABAP Backend for authentication

OpenID is an Open Standard to authenticate to external Websites without the need of a password on that site. I have created an Open Source OpenID Server that uses a WebAS Java or ABAP Backend for authentication. By utilizing the SAP Backend system you gain central control also for external Websites.
Update: I cancel this session because I want to be able to attend some other sessions. Please watch the recording from the Virtual 2009 Community Day.

Subversion support for SAPLink based on ZAKE (ABAP Make)

ZAKE is based on SAPLink and provides some basic functionality to create an ABAP program which downloads and installs SAPLink files from a repository and install them. To ZAKE I've added Subversion support with ZAKE_SVN. In this session I will demonstrate how you can collaborate on an ABAP Open Source project without working on the same central ABAP system.

Enterprise Software Ontologies

Ontologies are a tools from knowledge management that allow classification of complex structures. With their help we can visualize software architecture as well as complete enterprise architecture. Furthermore they make it possible to apply techniques from artificial intelligence to ask questions about those models. In my talk I will discuss modeling and reasoning techniques.

New Features in Web Dynpro ABAP

Although we showed many new features for Web Dynpro ABAP that will ship later this year in NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 2 during Teched, development has been hard at work on additional features since then. In this session, I will give a first look at the features we didn't show during TechEd. Features so secret I can't even list them here on the Wiki.

SAP Test automation - fully automatic test of complex business processes including output management XSF and RDI.

We take the wording "automation" very seriously. Our version of test automation is indeed fully automatic.  No one has to modify test data or any other input parameter in order to conduct regression tests. We support different kinds of input interfaces - Dialogues, IDOC-interface, Batch processing, files are generated and submitted all of it automatically. Even the checks in order to evaluate if the test was successful are performed automatically.
A recent feature of out automatic test system is the controlled generation of XSF and RDI output files, and the automatic evaluation of the correctness of the file content. Our setup consists of large number of isolated units which can be linked exchanging parameters. The isolated units are linked together through table entries. We have been up and running for some years
We are looking forward to displaying our setup and discuss different aspects of automatic testing with you. In case you don't believe us - we aren't surprised, but please give us the chance to convince you

ABAP Unit Tests und persistent data handling

Combining Unit Tests with persistent data like database tables is in most times not that simple. Doing Unit Tests in ABAP since 2002, we also developed a bunch of tools and tricks to let them work with DBs too large to reset completly after every test execution.
- Using a shiny new DB layer
- Test-Enabling legacy applications with wide-spread DB accesses
- Eliminate the need for DB manipulation through plugins and mock-ups of whole systems parts
- Handling Reports
- Combining Unit Tests and eCATT
