Welcome SAP folks to the official SAP Inside Track Vienna info page!
After the successful SAP Inside Track Vienna in 2018, we are looking forward to host the next SAP Inside Track in Austria. Due to its central location and easy accessibility by plane, train, and car we chose Vienna as the conference city.
The main conference will be on Saturday, November 23rd 2019.
On Friday, November 22nd we plan to organize an SAP CodeJam for interested community geeks.
Both, the CodeJam and the Inside Track are a great opportunity to spend the weekend in a nice city with a great cultural heritage, to connect with your peers and friends, to make new friends, to gain new experience and insights, to listen to interesting talks, to give great talks, to fall in love with Vienna once and for all, and, and and…
The conference language will be English. You might want to check out some local German basics at Wienerisch für Anfänger (Viennese for beginners).

Where will it take place?
SAP Inside Track
For the Inside Track we were able to organize the great event location LOFFICE in Vienna's hip 7th district.
For the SAP CodeJam we organized
a meeting location at Mariahilfer Straße - one of Vienna's main shopping locations an alternative location in an outer district. The location will provide all necessary meeting facilities (rooms, WiFi, lots of coffee etc.) to host the joint hacking session.
The topic of the SAP CodeJam is all about SAP Cloud Application Programming Model aka CAP(M) and will be held by Marius Obert.
In case of questions arising while your brain digests the input from the CodeJam, Marius will be available the next day at #sitVIE as well where he volunteered to speak. See his proposal below.

|Speaker (First Last)||Title of talk||Description||Keywords||Additional Information (SCN, XING, ...)|
|Philipp Krenn||Full-Text Search Applied||Today’s applications are expected to provide powerful full-text search. But how does that work in general and how do I implement it in my application? This talk shows you how with Elastic App Search built on top of Elasticsearch, the most widely used search engine available today.||Full Text Search|
|Marius Obert||Consume UI5 Web Apps from the HTML Application Repository||While the development of the OpenUI5 technology advances with incredible speed, one thing remained almost constant for a very while time: The deployment flow of the web app to the Cloud Foundry environment. For years, we embedded the minified UI project as a static resource in the Approuter module. While this approach works our fine in simple scenarios, it might reach its limits when the application needs to scale. In this session, I will explain the disadvantages of the old approach and how to overcome them with the HTML5 Application Repository service.||HTML5 Application Repository, Cloud Foundry, SAP Cloud Platform, Web Components|
|Sebastian Nigl||Predictive analytics library and how an integration to abap can looks like|
The predictive analytics library within the HANA DB is the key to let your SAP System learn, match patterns and predict future events.
In my session I will show you how you can utilize the library to integrate machine learning functionalities in your ABAP code. I also will show you how you can display the results in Embedded Analytics and SAP Analytics Cloud.

|Max Streifeneder||SAP Cloud Application Programming Model - Jumpstart into Cloud Development||Cloud Native Development isn’t a no brainer. There are various languages and tools you can choose from, but it doesn’t necessarily make your life easier. The SAP Cloud Application Programming (CAP) Model is supposed to ease application development in the SAP ecosphere rapidly. An introduction into the concept of CAP with less slides, more live coding.||SAP Cloud Platform, Node.js, Java, OData, Cloud Foundry|
|Vadim Klimov||Exploring internals and discovering hidden features of cloud services: SAP CPI showcase||Cloud services tend to hide underlying complexity and internals, but there are certain use cases and circumstances, when knowledge about internal architecture and special aspects of underlying runtime adds value and facilitates improved awareness about product capabilities and limitations. In this session, SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI) will be exposed to analysis, and we will look into some exploration strategies and techniques that can be employed by customers during the course of design, development and troubleshooting of CPI-based integration scenarios.||SAP Cloud Platform Integration, Java, Groovy|

|Maximilian Schaufler||Teach and let learn||Impressions and stories from teaching tech in various situations.|
Learning is important, it's the foundation for gathering knowledge, expanding your horizon and developing new skills and understanding.
Most of what we learn we learn from others, therefore: Teaching is important.
As someone who always had an intrinsic motivation not only to learn but also to teach, I want to share some of my experiences and a few stories to spark some thoughts on teaching, provide input for discussions, help others reflecting their own experiences.

|Volker Stöffler||The Competitive Advantage of Cooperation - Why Nice Guys (should) Finish First|
Social Darwinism is widely considered a toxic term these days, and it is so for very good reasons. But there are observations from evolution that we can learn from and benefit for our teams, communities or even society. Richard Dawkins, one of the most renowned contemporary advocates of Darwinism and Evolutionary Biology, has dedicated a BBC documentary and a chapter in his first book "The Selfish Gene" to the subject.
This session is about the benefits of and prerequisites for cooperative behavior, the answer to "who are the fittest?" in "Survival of the Fittest", the ratio of effort and gain in competition, the characteristics of non-zero-sum games ("win-win-situation") and the role of diversity therein.
|Cooperation, Evolution, Survival, Selfishness, Altruism, Darwinism|
This is a non-technical presentation based upon texts published by Robert Axelrod and Richard Dawkins. Axelrod provides a mathematical foundation for Dawkins' conclusions using game theory.
|Volker Stöffler||Windows, Cubes & Rollups: OLAP Extensions in SQL||A core component in Business Intelligence is Online Analytical Processing (OLAP). It is based upon the aggregation of (usually many) rows to a (usually much smaller) result set. The SQL Standard contains some fundamental capabilities (MIN, MAX, AVG, SUM, ... functions, GROUP BY, HAVING) and more advanced functionality is usually provided by applications. But there is an extension to SQL, implemented in SAP products HANA, IQ and SQL Anywhere, which brings more powerful functionality into SQL and the database server itself. With more analytic capabilities closer to the data, there is potential for improvement, especially when dealing with extreme numbers of data rows aka Big Data. Here, I'll introduce basics and principles of these SQL extensions.||OLAP, SQL, Database, Analytics, Database Server, Business Intelligence|
|Volker Stöffler||SAP IQ - Business Intelligence and vertical data processing with 8 GB RAM or less||SAP IQ is a HANA companion for SDA / SDI and SAP BW NLS, to keep data way beyond memory limits accessible. But it also is a full-blown data warehouse system of its own, with column oriented data storage and powerful analytics capabilities. It can scale up to the world's largest data warehouse and down to desktop or notebook computers. This session is intended to show the benefits and capabilities of the vertical data structures used inside and their impact on high performance processing and parallel execution of Business Intelligence style queries.||SQL, SAP IQ, database, data warehouse, business intelligence, world record, petabytes||SCN LinkedIn SQL Anywhere Forum|
|Gergely Késmárki||Java application development and performance optimization in the SCP Neo environment|
I would like to talk about our experience with the SAP Cloud Platform development through to telling you about a concrete project we had in the last years.
In the first part of the presentation, I will talk about the design of the application with Java, UI5, oData, Apache Olingo and JPA.
During the development of the application, we faced with several type of performance issues, so in the second part of the application I’m planning to talk about several ways to find out and sort out the performance issues (SCP built in tools, external tools, etc.).
|SAP Cloud Platform, Java, UI5, JPA|
The event is for FREE (free, as in free beer). Including drinks during the event and lunch.
The pre- and/or post-conference events are not for free.
