Purpose

The aim of this page is to explain when and how it is possible to change the Valuation Type in a Batch.

Overview

Same Plant

The relationship between Material, Plant, Storage Location, Batch and Valuation Type is one-to-one at the Plant level perspective. This combination is unique. If you try to change this combination to the same Plant an error message will be raised: Valuation type &1 differs from valuation type of batch &2 (M7 043). You have to reverse all your postings and then make a new post in the other/new valuation type.

It is also not possible to do a transfer posting from different Valuation Types at the same Plant. Error message ‘LB 603 – Change of valuation type – check open process’ will be presented.

Different Plants

It is possible to make postings for different valuation types when involving different plants. In this case, the relationship between Material, Plant, Storage Location, Batch and Valuation Type is not equal. Then, no error message will be displayed.

Possible combination (for example):

Example: Plant-to-Plant

Transfer posting Plant-to-Plant one step (301) with different Plants, same Storage Location, same Batch and moving from one valuation Type to another one: As plant is different, error message ‘M7 043’ is not presented.

Example: Same Plant

Transfer posting SLOC-to-SLOC one step (311) with same Plant, same Storage Location, same Batch and moving from one valuation Type to another one: Error message ‘M7 043’ is raised. Even if storage location is the same it is not possible transfer batch stock from different Valuation Types to the same batch number.

Transfer posting SLOC-to-SLOC one step (311) with same Plant, same Storage Location, different Batches and moving from one valuation Type to another one: For different batch numbers there is no any issue. Error message ‘M7 043’ is not raised even if you are doing a material transfer between two different Valuation Types.

Transfer posting SLOC-to-SLOC one step (311) with same Plant, different Storage Locations, same Batch and moving from one valuation Type to another one: For different storage locations but same batch numbers error message ‘M7 043’ is also raised. Material transfer between two different Valuation Types is not possible.
