  • Identify / clean up orphaned InfoStore objects
    • Report or Program objects for which no associated file exists in the File Repository Server (FRS) filestores
    • Attempting to load affected reports / programs would yield an error similar to, “File not found in FRS”

    • Such objects can also be removed by the tool
  • Identify orphaned File Repository Server objects

    • Files in the FRS locations for which no associated report or program object / instance exists

    • Such files may no longer be of use and would contribute to disk cost


The Repository Diagnostic Tool (also known as Repository Scanner, or reposcan) command line will be different for all customers and all environments, since it makes explicit references to CMS system database type, logon information File Repository Server locations, etc.  The Administrator's Guide for each product will explain all the parameters and their possible values.  One example of a Repository Scanner command line is:

No download link.  This tool is included within the installation of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 and SAP Business Intelligence Platform 4.0 / 4.1

Requirements / Dependencies

  • It is advised the Repository Scanner tool should only be run against an inactive system, i.e. CMS and FRSs stopped.
  • Database connectivity to the CMS system database
  • Direct access to File Repository Servers' filestore directories
  • Authentication as Administrator account
