The purpose of this document is to provide answers to commonly asked questions related to SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) Starter Edition, non-production (for customers), as well as Cloud Test & Demo for Integrated Business Planning (for partners).

1. What is SAP IBP Starter Edition?
SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) is SAP's new, state-of-the art platform for real-time, integrated supply chain planning – built on SAP HANA, for Cloud deployment. SAP IBP has been developed to deliver integrated, unified planning across sales and operations, demand, inventory, response and supply planning, as well as the supply chain control tower for dashboard analytics and monitoring. SAP IBP delivers a new paradigm of user experience and efficiency, leveraging real-time dashboards, advanced predictive analytics, interactive simulation, embedded social collaboration and Microsoft Excel-enabled planning tables. SAP Integrated Business Planning starter edition, non-production (“SAP IBP Starter Edition” or “starter edition”), is a less-expensive, limited-usage version of SAP IBP. Cloud Test & Demo for Integrated Business Planning is the name of the partner version of SAP IBP Starter Edition.
The following restrictions apply to SAP IBP Starter Edition:

Use of order-based data model
1Total Planning Points is defined as the total number of stored key figure values in the IBP system, taking into consideration the number of Stored Key Figures, Planning Combinations, Time Periods and Scenarios/Versions. A planning point is similar to a planning cell in a spreadsheet.

2. What is the difference between the starter edition and the “enterprise edition”?
SAP IBP Starter Edition has restrictions on the system size and the number of users (see question “What is SAP IBP Starter Edition?” above). The starter edition is generally used for trial usage and proof-of-concept projects. The starter edition may not be used for productive use.
The starter edition has different contract terms, including the subscription duration. When purchased via the SAP Store, the starter edition has a 3-month, automatically renewing subscription.

All six applications of SAP IBP (demand, inventory, response and supply, sales and operations, supply chain control tower and demand-driven replenishment) are included in starter edition.
Previously, it was not possible to use or copy the order-based data model (Planning Area SAP7) or the SDI-based integration models, part of the response and supply module, with starter edition. This restriction has now been removed.
5. Is the system pre-configured, or is there any pre-defined “demo content”?
As with all IBP systems, the sample models (Planning areas SAP1, SAP2, etc.) are already installed, including the Unified Planning Area (SAPIBP1).
The starter edition is also delivered with the SAP Best Practices for SAP Integrated Business Planning (formerly known as Rapid Deployment Solution or RDS) content (activated planning area, uploaded sample data, configured planning views, configured analytics, etc.) pre-installed. At this time, there is no pre-defined “demo content” or “demo scripts” for SAP IBP Starter Edition.
6. Is there an on premise version of SAP IBP Starter Edition?
No. SAP Integrated Business Planning is only available as a cloud solution.
7. How can I upgrade to the “enterprise edition” of SAP Integrated Business Planning?

10. How do customers purchase SAP IBP Starter Edition?
The starter edition can be purchased online via the SAP Store.
Please note that not all countries are supported for purchasing via SAP Store. To see if your country is supported, click on the national flag icon in the upper-right corner of the SAP Store screen, between “Help” and the shopping cart icon.
11. Who can buy SAP IBP Starter Edition?
Any SAP business partner can purchase the starter edition. If your company is not an existing SAP business partner, you may register, via the SAP Store, at the time of purchase.
12. How can I pay for SAP IBP Starter Edition?
The default payment method is via credit card.
The option to pay via invoice is also possible, but needs to be set up ahead of time in the SAP Store (please contact SAP Store Admin at firstname.lastname@example.org). The invoice option does allow the possibility to enter a purchase order or other reference number.
It is not possible to request a quotation.
13. Will my subscription be automatically renewed?
Yes, the subscription will be renewed automatically at the end of every 3-month subscription period unless the subscription is terminated. You will receive a notification two weeks prior to the end of your current subscription period reminding you of the automatic renewal.
14. Can I change the subscription period?
When purchased via the SAP Store, the starter edition has a 3-month, automatically renewing subscription. It is not possible to change the subscription period (e.g. 1-month or 6-month). It is not possible to pre-pay for future subscription periods.
15. Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, the subscription for starter edition can be terminated at the end of any 3-month subscription period by providing SAP with at least 10 days’ notice (please contact SAP Store Admin at email@example.com). Otherwise, subscription renewal will happen automatically.
16. How long will the provisioning of the system take after purchase?
Systems will be provisioned on the start date or within 48 hours.

17. How do partners purchase Cloud Test & Demo for IBP?
Cloud Test & Demo for Integrated Business Planning can be purchased via the SAP PartnerEdge portal: https://partneredge.sap.com/en/partnership/licenses/tdd.html.
When purchased through the SAP PartnerEdge portal, the partner version of the starter edition is the same from a technical standpoint, but the licensing, subscription and payment options are different (see below).
18. Who can buy Cloud Test & Demo for IBP?
All SAP PartnerEdge partners can purchase Cloud Test & Demo for IBP.
All SAP Open Ecosystem partners who are operationally authorized for Build, Sell or Service can purchase Cloud Test & Demo for IBP.
19. How can I pay for Cloud Test & Demo for IBP?
Payment is via invoice, which does allow the possibility to enter a purchase order or other reference number.
Subscription fees are invoiced annually and in advance.
It is not possible to break up the subscription fees into multiple invoices (e.g. quarterly or monthly).
While it is not possible to pay directly via credit card, it is possible to use SAP Biller Direct to pay your SAP invoices using a credit card. All customers and partners can use SAP Biller Direct to view and pay their invoices, but must first register via the web site.
20. Will my subscription be automatically renewed?
Yes, the subscription will be renewed automatically after each year unless the subscription is terminated.
21. Can I change the subscription period?
No. The initial term runs from the effective date of the agreement for one year. Each renewal term automatically renews for an additional 12-month term at the end of the initial term and of each subsequent renewal term.
22. Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, the agreement can be terminated in writing only, which must be received at least 90 days prior to the renewal date of the agreement. Paid invoices are not refundable.
23. How long will the provisioning of the system take after purchase?
Systems will be provisioned on the start date or within 48 hours.
24. Who provides the hosting services for this offering?
SAP Cloud. It is not possible to host SAP Integrated Business Planning in 3rd-party clouds.
25. Where are the Data Centers located for this offering?
SAP IBP Starter Edition and Cloud Test & Demo for IBP are currently hosted in the following regions:

26. Can I select the data center for my instance?
The data center is determined by the location of the customer, based on the customer account information.
27. Can I change any of the restrictions such as virtual instance size or number of users?
The starter edition is not intended to be an expandable, scalable solution, but rather a low-cost, short-term “try before you buy” option. In order to have an IBP system with more capacity, more users, etc., you must purchase a subscription to the IBP “enterprise edition”.
28. How do I get support?
SAP IBP Starter Edition and Cloud Test & Demo for IBP both come with SAP Enterprise Support, cloud editions. For contacting SAP's support organization, use the SAP Support Portal (https://support.sap.com).

29. What is the release level of SAP IBP Starter Edition? How do I get upgrades?

30. Can I upload my own data to the starter edition?
Yes, you can use SAP Cloud Integration for data services, or CPI-DS, to load your own data. Or, you can upload data via flat file.
Please note that it is not allowed in any case to connect a partner’s Cloud Test & Demo for IBP system to a customer’s system (e.g. SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP APO or legacy) directly through SAP Cloud Integration for data services or any other technique.
31. How can I get access to SAP Cloud Integration for data services?
SAP Cloud Integration for data services, or CPI-DS, is included with your subscription to SAP IBP Starter Edition. You will receive information on how to access the integration service once your starter edition system is provisioned.
32. Is the SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS) included?
Yes. SAP Identity Authentication Service can be used for Single Sign-On (SSO).
33. Is SDI (smart data integration), which is used for Response Management, included?
Yes. For access to SDI, please request via Customer Incident using component SCM-IBP-OPS-SRV.
