Purpose
The purpose of this document is to give an overview on the transition from SAP ECTR on SAP ERP to SAP ECTR for S/4HANA.
SAP ECTR brings besides the JAVA client an Add-On on top of either SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA. This ABAP Add-On is not modifying and is handled with SUM during the upgrade process.

Technical transition to SAP ECTR for SAP S/4HANA
The technical transition from SAP ECTR (on ERP) to SAP ECTR for S/4HANA is part of the overall transition from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA.
Only for customers having ECTR 4.x:
There is also a ECTR version before 5.x which is a pure partner product, not sold/supported by SAP (also call "legacy ECTR" below). The partner product ECTR 4.x is not supported on SAP S/4HANA. Therefore a transition is required from 4.x to 4.6 or 4.7. SAP ERP + ECTR 4.6 / 4.7 or 5.x can be used as starting point to make the transition from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA.

1 This step is only then needed when the customer likes to work productive with this intermediate software. If yes the change to ECTR 4.6 / 4.7 is needed because of the HDB.
2 The conversion from EhP7 or EHP8 to S/4HANA is usually done with the Maintenance Planner/SUM tool. This tool does recognize that the Add-on ECTR is installed and the Add-on will be correctly handled. In the following steps the entry for "ECTR" and optionally "ECTRWUI" will be removed and the Add-on "S4ECTR" will be installed.

c) Conversion from ECTR
Alongside the conversion to S/4HANA, no additional manual activities within the SUM process are required for the conversion of ECTR to S4ECTR.
The conversion is possible with the installation package SAPK-100COINS4ECTR. It should always be carried out together with the highest available SP.
